How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven QS who wants to take ownership of projects and play an important role in their successful commercial delivery.
    The Role
As Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of projects from tender and procurement through to delivery and final account.
Working closely with our operational and commercial teams, you will ensure projects are delivered within budget while identifying commercial risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
    Key Responsibilities
    * Manage the commercial and financial performance of projects.
    * Prepare accurate cost estimates, budgets and forecasts.
    * Monitor project expenditure, profitability and overall commercial performance.
    * Prepare regular commercial and financial reports for Directors and the wider commercial team.
    * Review, prepare and manage construction contracts.
    * Manage variations, changes, claims and contractual matters.
    * Identify commercial risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.
    * Manage subcontractor and supplier procurement, including obtaining quotations and negotiating commercial terms.
    * Work closely with project and operational teams to identify value-engineering and cost-saving opportunities.
    * Maintain accurate commercial records and project documentation.
    * Prepare, negotiate and agree final accounts.
    * Work collaboratively with clients, subcontractors, suppliers and internal teams to support successful project delivery.
    * Support and provide guidance to other members of the commercial and construction teams where required.
    About You
We are looking for someone who has:
    * Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within construction and/or rail.
    * A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
    * Strong knowledge of construction contracts, procurement and cost control.
    * Good commercial awareness with the ability to identify risks and opportunities.
    * Strong negotiation and communication skills.
    * The ability to manage multiple commercial priorities and work closely with operational teams.
    * A proactive and organised approach to project commercial management.
    * RICS membership or another relevant professional qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.
    Why Join ASH Construction Group?
This is an opportunity to join a growing contractor where you will have genuine involvement in the commercial performance and delivery of projects.
