How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Relationship Management | FMCG | Account Growth | Product Development | Personal Care

Great Customer Relationships. New Opportunities. Products Brought to Life.

Soapworks is one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of soap bars and personal care products, partnering with brands and retailers to create and manufacture products at scale.

We’re looking for a commercially minded Account Manager to help us grow.

This is not a traditional field sales role.

Instead, you’ll build strong B2B customer relationships, uncover new opportunities, grow existing accounts and work closely with teams across the business to turn customer requirements into commercially successful products.

If you understand the pace of FMCG or manufacturing, enjoy getting close to customers and are equally comfortable talking about sales, products, costs and delivery, we’d love to hear from you.

    The Role at a Glance

    Account Manager
    Glasgow | Scotland
    Hybrid Working 3-4 days Onsite - Full-Time | Permanent
    £35,000
    Plus Comprehensive Benefits

    Reporting to: Business Development Manager
    No Direct Reports

    The Opportunity

You’ll manage and develop a portfolio of B2B customers while actively identifying opportunities for new revenue.

That means understanding what customers need, spotting where Soapworks can add value and then coordinating internally to make it happen.

    You’ll:

    • Drive growth and new business across multiple customer accounts
    • Generate new opportunities and help convert customer enquiries
    • Build and develop relationships with existing customers, helping them realise their full potential with Soapworks
    • Research customer requirements and support contract negotiations
    • Understand Soapworks’ products, processes and capabilities to recommend the right solutions
    • Coordinate new product development through critical path management
    • Work across internal teams to ensure customer briefs are delivered effectively
    • Complete and manage product costings
    • Support forecasting and commercial planning
    • Spot risks early and escalate issues where needed

    More Than Account Management

A customer may come to you with an opportunity or product requirement, but your involvement doesn’t stop when the conversation is won.

You’ll help coordinate the development of new products, bringing together the right internal teams and keeping the critical path moving so products are available on time and in full.

That makes this a particularly good opportunity for someone who enjoys the relationship side of sales but also wants to understand how products are developed, costed, manufactured and delivered.

    About You

You’ll already have proven experience in B2B sales, business development or account management, with evidence of developing new opportunities while growing and retaining customer relationships.

Experience within personal care, FMCG or a similar manufacturing environment would be particularly valuable.

    You’ll bring:

    • Proven experience developing new business and managing customer accounts
    • Forecasting and commercial planning experience
    • A good understanding of manufacturing, supply chain and commercial processes
    • Strong customer relationship skills, with the ability to be persuasive but diplomatic when issues arise
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills, face to face and virtually
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, with a flair for presenting information clearly and engagingly
    • A proactive, solutions-focused approach and a willingness to look beyond current practices to find new opportunities
    • Strong attention to detail and a strong work ethic
    • The ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities, and stay calm under pressure when demands shift
    • Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams capability

Knowledge of packaging production and artwork approval processes would be an advantage. A degree in business, marketing or a related discipline is preferred but not essential.

The role involves ad-hoc travel on company business, so the ability to drive and a clean driving licence would be advantageous.

    Ready to Grow With Soapworks?

If you’re commercially curious, customer-focused and enjoy turning opportunities into successful products and long-term partnerships, we’d love to hear from you.

    Benefits:

    • 37.5 hours per week: 8am–4.30pm Monday to Thursday; 8am–3pm Friday (working from home, with some requirement to be on site as needed)
    • 4-weekly pay cycle
    • 33 days’ holiday inclusive of bank holidays, rising with service
    • Pension
    • Death in Service benefit of 3x basic salary
    • Income Protection Benefit after 1 year in role
    • Access to (email address removed), which provides EAP, GP and physio services, plus information on health, family, money and work, and discounts with various retailers

Ready to See Your Work on the Shelf?

If you want a role where you own the customer relationship, spot the next opportunity and then see the products you helped shape go from brief to shelf, this is it.

You’ll join one of the UK’s leading personal care manufacturers, working with well-known brands and retailers, with real influence over how your accounts grow.

Apply today and take the next step in your commercial career with Soapworks.
