Braxfield Recruitment is working with a local authority in North London to find an interim HHSRS Compliance Surveyor on a 6 – 12 month contract.
Phase 2 of Awaab's Law comes into force on 30 November 2026 and brings more hazards under strict response timescales. The council is strengthening its surveying team to meet the new requirements. This is a key role at an important time for the sector.
The role
Carry out Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) inspections across the council's housing stock
Assess the hazards covered by the new requirements, including heating, cooling and ventilation (excess cold and heat)
Assess and report on damp and mould, and specify remedial works
Identify everyday hazards such as cluttered stairwells, trip hazards and fire risks
Produce clear, accurate survey reports and schedules of works within the required timescales
Liaise with residents, repairs teams and contractors to make sure hazards are resolved
About you
Experience carrying out HHSRS assessments, ideally in social housing or a local authority
Good understanding of Awaab's Law and the upcoming Phase 2 changes
Experience diagnosing damp and mould and specifying remedial works
A relevant HHSRS or surveying qualification is desirable
Good report writing, and confident dealing with residents
Able to travel to properties across the borough
