Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer – Site Services
Thetford, Norfolk
Full time, flexible shift pattern available (Double days or just day shift)
Are you a hands-on maintenance engineer who’s equally comfortable stripping down a pump as fault-finding a motor control circuit?
We’re working with an established manufacturer in the Thetford area who are looking for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join their Site Services team and help keep their site infrastructure safe, reliable and running smoothly.
Reporting to the Site Services Supervisor, you’ll look after the equipment that keeps the site moving, including tanks, vessels, pipework, valves, pumps, bunds and transfer systems. It’s a varied role mixing planned maintenance, inspections and breakdown response, ideal for an engineer who enjoys getting to the root of a problem.
What the job involves
Carrying out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across site services equipment and infrastructure
Responding to breakdowns on pumps, motors, valves, pipework and transfer systems, and getting them back up and running
Diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical faults, including on control systems such as contactors, overloads, isolators, sensors and switches
Servicing and replacing pumps, 3-phase motors, bearings, seals, valves and other mechanical components
Inspecting tanks, vessels, pipework, bunds and pumps for leaks, corrosion, wear or damage, and carrying out minor repairs where needed
Helping with the installation, replacement and commissioning of new equipment
Working alongside specialist contractors during servicing, inspections and larger repairs
Logging all work, defects, parts used and follow-up actions accurately on the site’s CMMS, and closing jobs out properly
Working safely at all times, following permit-to-work, isolation and lock-off procedures, and flagging any significant defects or unsafe conditions
What you’ll bring
Solid practical experience of both mechanical and electrical maintenance
Good knowledge of pumps, 3-phase motors, valves, pipework and related systems
Strong fault-finding skills, particularly on electrical controls and motor circuits
The ability to read basic mechanical and electrical drawings
A background in a manufacturing, process or industrial setting
A thorough understanding of safe mechanical and electrical isolation
Experience logging work on a CMMS
A practical, problem-solving mindset and the confidence to work on your own or as part of a team
