With a strong reputation within the UK commercial vehicle industry, the business is continuing to grow and is looking to strengthen its workshop operations.
The role would suit an experienced Workshop Supervisor, Assistant Workshop Manager or Workshop Controller. Applications are also welcomed from experienced HGV Mechanics, Trailer Technicians, Vehicle Technicians or Plant Mechanics who have supervisory experience and are looking to take the next step into workshop management.

The Assistant Workshop Manager / Workshop Supervisor Role
Working closely with the Workshop Manager, you will help oversee the day-to-day running of the workshop, supervising technicians, coordinating workloads and ensuring repairs and servicing are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
This is a hands-on leadership role combining Technician supervision, workshop planning, and technical problem-solving. You will play an important part in maintaining workshop productivity, supporting the development of the team and ensuring customers receive an excellent service.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the Workshop Manager with the daily running and organisation of the workshop.
* Supervise and support a team of mechanics and technicians, maintaining productivity and high standards of workmanship.
* Allocate repair, servicing and maintenance jobs, coordinating workloads and priorities.
* Monitor job progress, identify delays and help ensure work is completed within agreed timescales.
* Provide practical and technical support to technicians, helping resolve mechanical and operational issues.
* Liaise with customers and colleagues regarding repair progress, priorities and completion dates.
* Identify opportunities to improve workshop efficiency, reduce downtime and optimise resources.
Your Background
We are looking for someone with a practical mechanical background who has the confidence and organisational skills to supervise technicians and coordinate workshop activities.
You may currently be working as a:
* Assistant Workshop Manager
* Workshop Supervisor
* Workshop Controller
* Senior HGV Mechanic
* Senior Vehicle Technician
* Fleet Maintenance Supervisor
* Service Supervisor
* Plant or Agricultural Machinery Workshop Supervisor
You will ideally have:
* Experience supervising, leading or coordinating mechanics, technicians or workshop personnel.
* A background in mechanical maintenance, vehicle servicing or repairs.
* The ability to allocate work, manage priorities and monitor job progress.
* Strong practical problem-solving skills and the confidence to support technicians with technical issues.
* Good communication and organisational skills.
* An understanding of workshop health and safety, quality and productivity.
* Experience within HGVs, commercial vehicles, trailers, plant machinery, agricultural equipment or fleet maintenance would be advantageous.
You don't need to have held an Assistant Workshop Manager / Workshop Supervisor role previously. We are particularly interested in experienced Mechanics or Technicians who have developed team leadership or supervisory responsibilities and are ready to progress into a management position.
