How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    NURSERY ASSISTANT / SUPPORT STAFF/ QUALIFIED NURSERY PRACTITIONER

    Based in one of three Locations Elstree/ Borehamwood / Shenley

    RESPONSIBLE TO: ROOM LEADER/ DEPUTY MANAGER

    • To contribute to a planned programme of activities suitable to the age range of children in conjunction with other staff;

    • Caring for children (Babies from 3 months up to 5 years old )

    • Ensuring the nursery runs smoothly whilst working as part of a team and using your own initiative to cover the workload

    • Using your excellent communication skills to interact with staff, parents and children as well as building relationships with our parents and children

    • To gain an understanding of the EYFS and to use your knowledge to plan activities for your key group

    • To understand our observation, planning and record-keeping cycle, linking progress for individual children and enhancing their learning environment

    • To keep a proper record of achievement file on key children, for parents/carers;

    • Work alongside parents/carers of special needs children to provide full integration in the setting;

    • Support all staff and engage in a good staff team;

    • Uphold standards within the setting by adhering to all policies and procedures;

    • Strive to safeguard children by working to the organisation’s safeguarding Code of Conduct;

    • Liaise with and support parents/carers and other family members;

    • To attend ALL out of working hours activities, e.g. training, monthly staff meetings, parents/carers evenings summer fair, Christmas party, etc.;

    • To be flexible within working practices of the Setting. Be prepared to help where needed, including to undertake certain domestic jobs within the Setting, e.g.
    preparation of snack meals, cleansing of equipment etc.

    • Work alongside the manager and staff team to ensure that the philosophy behind the project is fulfilled;

    • Recording accidents in the accident book. Ensure the manager has initialled the report before the parent receives it;

    • Look upon the setting as a "whole" where can your help be most utilised, be constantly aware of the needs of children;

    • Ensure the children are collected by someone known to the Setting;

    • To respect the confidentiality of information received;

    • To develop your role within the team especially in regards to being a key worker;

    Specific Child Care Tasks:

    • The preparation and completion of activities to suit the child's stage of development;

    • To ensure that mealtimes are a time of pleasant social sharing;
    • Washing and changing children as required;

    • Providing comfort and warmth to an ill child;

    • To ensure the setting is of a high-quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds, and stages of
    development;

    • To be aware of the high profile of the setting and to uphold its standards at all times.

    • To actively promote and support the safeguarding of children and young people in the workplace, ensuring setting policies and procedures are observed at all times.

    Responsibilities to the Child:

    1. Help the child help him/herself
    2. Help the child help others
    3. Help the child gain independence
    4. Help the child gain concentration
    5. Observe the child to determine if adult assistance is necessary
    6. Help the child when direction is needed
    7. Help the child follow through with his/her activities
    8. Help the child with social skills
