Are you an experienced Facilities or Building Manager looking for a varied role overseeing multi-site operations, managing a small team, and supporting a busy programme of events?
We are seeking a proactive and hands-on Halls Manager to oversee the operational management of two prominent civic buildings in Ilford. These venues host a range of community, corporate and private functions and are regularly used as dry hire event spaces, making this an excellent opportunity for someone who combines strong facilities management expertise with an understanding of venue operations.
The Role
Reporting into senior management, you will be responsible for the safe, efficient and effective operation of two civic buildings, ensuring they remain welcoming, compliant and fit for purpose for staff, visitors, hirers and event attendees.
You will lead a small facilities team, manage contractors and maintenance programmes, and provide operational support for the buildings' busy calendar of dry hire events. Flexibility is essential, as occasional evening and weekend working will be required to support events and operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee the day-to-day management and operation of two civic buildings.
* Lead, supervise and develop a small facilities and operational team.
* Ensure both buildings are maintained to a high standard and operate efficiently.
* Manage planned, preventative and reactive maintenance activities.
* Coordinate external contractors, suppliers and service providers.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant health & safety and statutory regulations.
* Support the delivery of a varied programme of dry hire events, functions and community activities.
* Act as the primary operational contact for venue hirers and key stakeholders.
* Manage facilities budgets and monitor expenditure.
* Ensure excellent customer service standards are maintained across both sites.
* Assist with building opening, closing and event support arrangements when required.
* Participate in out-of-hours working, including evenings and weekends, to support events and operational requirements.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
* Proven experience managing multiple buildings or sites.
* Strong facilities, building or venue management experience.
* Previous experience leading, supervising and motivating a small operational or facilities team.
* Knowledge of health & safety, compliance and statutory building requirements.
* Experience managing maintenance programmes and external contractors.
* Excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
* A practical, hands-on approach with the ability to manage competing priorities.
* Experience working within civic, community, heritage, hospitality or event venue environments would be advantageous.
* A flexible approach to working hours, including evenings and weekends when required.
