How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

SEN & Inclusion: Support students with a range of needs, such as Autism, ADHD, Speech & Language difficulties, or Social, Emotional, and Mental Health challenges.

Classroom Integration: Assist subject teachers by helping adapt learning materials, keeping students focused, and minimizing barriers to learning.

Nurture Independence: Build positive working relationships with students, boosting their academic confidence, self-esteem, and social development.

    Requirements
Experience: Background supporting young people with special educational needs or learning barriers in school, youth work, or care environments.

Key Skills: Calm demeanor, strong active listening, emotional resilience, and the ability to build quick rapport with teenagers.

Adaptability: A flexible and patient approach when stepping into diverse learning support roles across The Wirral.

Compliance: An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or readiness to apply immediately).

    Why Join Academics?
Immediate Availability: Start working in local Wirral schools as soon as your compliance checks are finalized.

Flexible Working: Choose full-time or part-time days that fit around your personal availability.

Competitive Pay: Earn competitive daily rates paid weekly via a hassle-free online timesheet system.

Career Growth: Gain invaluable hands-on SEN experience-ideal for aspiring Speech & Language Therapists, Educational Psychologists, or future Teachers.
