How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Oxfida on a mission to harness AI to understand, predict, and manage risk, helping build a safer, more resilient society.
We sit at the intersection of academia and industry, working with Oxford's professors, researchers, and graduates alongside commercial spinouts and partner companies, to turn frontier research into AI that actually ships rather than just gets published.
Our work spans applied AI for insurance and adjacent industries, including supply chains, nature, autonomous driving, and the emerging challenges nobody's solved yet, alongside deep research of our own into agentic AI, privacy-preserving technologies, trustworthy AI, complex systems modelling, and quantum computing.
We build AI products and solutions for insurers, businesses, and public-sector organisations worldwide, and run innovative research projects that push these technologies further, helping people make better decisions in an uncertain world.
The Senior Business Analyst will support the successful delivery of Track 5 - Commercialisation & Value within the CODAS R&D Programme: a large-scale, multi-partner, international AI research programme backed by the Japanese government and major industry partners.
The role will work closely with AI Commercialisation Strategists, researchers, engineers, industry stakeholders and programme partners to understand business challenges, assess market and customer opportunities, define and validate potential AI use cases, and translate business needs into clear requirements that can inform research, product development and commercialisation activity.
The role will provide senior, structured business analysis to take opportunities from emerging research capabilities and early-stage ideas through to clearly defined and validated business use cases. This includes leading discovery, requirements definition, process analysis, market and opportunity assessment, benefits analysis and the evidence base required to support robust business cases and commercial pathways.
If you’d like to be part of our brighter future, and share in our success, we’d love to hear from you.
    Responsibilities
Opportunity, Market & Use Case Analysis
Lead the structured identification, evaluation and prioritisation of potential AI use cases arising from programme research outputs.
Work with industry stakeholders, prospective customers and subject matter experts to understand market needs, business problems, operational challenges and unmet needs.
Undertake targeted market and competitor analysis to understand the size, relevance and differentiation of priority opportunities and inform where the programme should focus.
Analyse and define potential use cases, documenting the business problem, target users or customers, desired outcomes, dependencies, constraints and measures of success.
Support the validation and prioritisation of use cases with insurers, industry partners and other potential customers, using evidence to recommend whether opportunities should proceed, be refined or stop.
    Business Analysis & Requirements Definition
Lead detailed business analysis and requirements gathering for priority commercial opportunities and use cases.
Elicit, analyse and document business, functional and non-functional requirements through stakeholder interviews, workshops and other discovery activities.
Translate business needs into clear, structured requirements that can be understood and acted upon by research, engineering and product teams.
Identify assumptions, dependencies, constraints, risks and data requirements associated with proposed use cases and solutions.
Define appropriate success measures and acceptance criteria to support the validation of technical outputs, proofs of concept, pilots and potential solutions.
Commercial Value & Business Case Development
Work closely with AI Commercialisation Strategists to assess and validate the potential business and commercial value of priority opportunities.
Gather and analyse quantitative and qualitative evidence to establish current-state baselines, customer need and expected benefits.
Assess and quantify potential benefits including cost reduction, operational efficiency, customer experience, risk reduction, revenue generation and other measurable business outcomes.
Develop the analysis and evidence required to build outline and detailed business cases, including key assumptions, costs, benefits, risks and scenarios.
Sense-check market and stakeholder claims, challenge unsupported assumptions and ensure commercial recommendations are grounded in evidence.
Support assessment of the potential commercial pathway for priority opportunities, including what further validation, pilot activity, product definition or customer evidence is required before progression.
    Process & Operating Model Analysis
Analyse and document current-state business processes, customer journeys and operational workflows relevant to priority use cases.
Identify pain points, inefficiencies and opportunities where AI capabilities could improve or transform existing processes.
Define potential future-state processes and identify the people, process, data, technology and governance changes required to enable adoption.
Assess the operational impact of proposed AI solutions and identify key implementation considerations.
    Technical & Business Translation
Build strong working relationships with researchers, engineers, Commercialisation Strategists and relevant stakeholders across programme tracks.
Develop sufficient understanding of programme research and emerging AI capabilities to assess where they could address meaningful market and business problems.
Translate technical capabilities and constraints into clear business and commercial implications for non-technical stakeholders.
Translate customer, market and business requirements into structured inputs for research and engineering teams.
Maintain traceability between identified business problems, requirements, proposed AI capabilities, evidence and expected business outcomes.
    Stakeholder Engagement
Build effective relationships with programme teams, insurers, industry stakeholders, prospective customers and subject matter experts.
Plan and facilitate workshops, interviews and discovery sessions to understand business needs, define requirements, test assumptions and validate use cases.
Capture, analyse and synthesise stakeholder feedback into clear findings, requirements and recommendations.
Constructively challenge stakeholders where evidence does not support an assumption, proposed solution or expected benefit.
Support effective communication and alignment between technical teams and business stakeholders throughout the development of priority opportunities.
    Programme & Commercialisation Support
Support the AI Commercialisation Strategists in the delivery of the Track 5 commercialisation strategy and roadmap.
Maintain structured documentation of use cases, requirements, decisions, assumptions, dependencies, market evidence and supporting analysis.
Provide senior analysis and recommendations to support use-case prioritisation, commercial propositions, business cases and programme decision-making.
Contribute to Track 5 programme reporting, deliverables and governance activities where required.
Support the progression of opportunities from initial business need and market opportunity through to validated use case, business case, pilot and potential commercialisation pathway.
    Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications
    Business Analysis
Strong experience working as a Senior Business Analyst, or operating at equivalent level, within complex technology, digital, product, consulting or innovation environments.
Demonstrable experience leading discovery, eliciting and documenting business, functional and non-functional requirements.
Strong experience undertaking current-state and future-state process analysis and translating findings into actionable recommendations.
Ability to take complex or ambiguous business problems and structure them into clearly defined needs, requirements and potential use cases.
Experience identifying and documenting business outcomes, success measures, assumptions, dependencies, constraints, risks and data requirements.
Experience supporting or developing business cases, benefits analysis and evidence-based investment or prioritisation decisions.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to gather, challenge and synthesise information from multiple sources.
    Commercial & Market
A strong business and commercial mindset, with the ability to connect customer problems, market needs, technology capabilities and measurable business value.
Experience assessing new products, services, use cases or technology-enabled opportunities, including market or competitor considerations where relevant.
Ability to assess and articulate potential business benefits including efficiency, cost reduction, customer experience, risk reduction and revenue opportunities.
Experience gathering evidence to validate market need, challenge assumptions and support robust business cases and commercial recommendations.
Comfortable working alongside commercial or product specialists to define what is required to move an opportunity from discovery through validation, pilot and towards a viable commercial pathway.
    Technical
Comfortable working with technical teams, including researchers, engineers, data specialists and other technical subject matter experts.
Ability to understand emerging technologies sufficiently to assess their potential application to business and market problems.
Able to translate business needs into clear requirements for technical teams and communicate technical capabilities and constraints to non-technical stakeholders.
An awareness of AI and machine learning concepts and a strong interest in developing knowledge of emerging AI technologies.
The role does not require hands-on model development, data science or software engineering experience.
    Stakeholder Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong workshop facilitation, stakeholder interview and requirements elicitation skills.
Ability to build effective relationships across business, commercial and technical teams and with external customers or partners.
Comfortable engaging with stakeholders at different levels of seniority and across different professional disciplines.
Ability to challenge constructively, ask effective questions and identify the underlying business problem rather than accepting a proposed solution or stated value at face value.
Strong collaboration and influencing skills, with the ability to drive clarity and progress without direct authority.
    Desirable
Previous experience working on AI, machine learning, data or emerging technology initiatives.
Experience within insurance or financial services.
Experience working within research, innovation or R&D environments.
Experience supporting early-stage product discovery, proposition development or commercialisation.
Experience undertaking market assessment, benefits modelling, ROI analysis or business case development.
Awareness of responsible AI, data privacy, AI governance and regulatory considerations.
Relevant Business Analysis qualification or professional accreditation, such as BCS, IIBA or equivalent.
