How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Job Title: Commercial Assistant, Rail Infrastructure

Location: Old Oak Common, West London (Hybrid: 3 days on site, 2 days from home)

Salary: £29,000 to £35,000 depending on experience

    Job Type: Permanent, Full Time

    About the Role

We’re recruiting a Commercial Assistant to join a busy commercial team delivering major rail infrastructure projects in West London. Our client works directly with Network Rail and in alliance with Aecom, delivering track, overhead line and signalling works under NEC contracts, alongside Alstom.

With a strong pipeline of work, including tenders for projects worth up to £30m, this is a great opportunity to join a growing team and build a long-term commercial career in rail. There’s a clear route to progress into an Assistant Quantity Surveyor role.

    Key Responsibilities

Supporting the Commercial Manager and Senior QS with subcontract management

Allocating timesheets across projects and cost codes

    Raising requisitions for purchase orders

Maintaining accurate commercial records and documentation

Supporting the wider commercial team with day-to-day duties

    About You

A degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related subject is desirable but not essential

A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to learn

Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

Confident using Excel and Microsoft Office

Interest in construction, rail or infrastructure (experience is a bonus, not a requirement)

Ambition to develop into a Quantity Surveying role

    What’s on Offer

    £29,000 to £35,000 salary

Hybrid working: 3 days on site, 2 days from home

26 days holiday plus bank holidays, with the option to buy more

Free staff minibus from Paddington, Willesden and East Acton

Clear progression towards an Assistant QS position

Exposure to major NEC rail projects working with Network Rail, Aecom and Alstom
