The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

    Job description

    Our client, a National Housebuilder is seeking to recruit an experienced Engineer is to support and assist the Regional Technical team and operating team to support the regional and Group Business plan, commercial objectives, budgets and future growth requirements, whilst mentoring junior members of the team.

    Main Responsibilities:

    • Take a ‘whole company’ perspective to the performance of Building Homes. Changing Lives by positively influencing business objectives and enhancing the profitability and operating effectiveness of the business, whilst being Passionate, Collaborative and Respectful.
    • Provide technical/engineering support to the land/development team to assist during feasibility studies and lead in the preparation of site viability reports in line with current regulatory requirements for residential development.
    • Assist the Technical Director/Manager and/or lead to process to identify the need for external consultants (Planning, Architectural, Engineering), develop project briefings, agree fees, the scope of service capability, timescales and deliverability. Formally appoint such consultants and lead subsequent technical engagements and interactions to support and commercially deliver against requirements covering areas such as: procurement of road and sewer designs, external works and drainage solution; the review and value engineering of infrastructure designs; cost effective foundation schedules in line with Geotech reports; remediation strategies; statutory service requirements, etc
    • Manage relationships with consultants and all other parties/stakeholders to ensure the flow of information is within the agreed timescales and in accordance with, and on schedule with the programme and ensure compliance at all stages of each planning submission in line with the National Housebuilding council standards.
    • Ensure all design information produced is issued to the relevant internal and external departments in accordance with, and on schedule with the programme and respond to site queries and resolve technical / design /construction issues and problems.
    • Be aware of and act upon commercial implications relating to planning & architectural design; civil & structural engineering design; geotechnical & ground remediation strategies; statutory services – new supplies & diversions
    • Assist in the process of tendering for, setting-up and establishing on site management companies, and apply/attain any stopping up and abandonment of existing site infrastructure whilst implementing the group procedures and ensuring all legal aspects in relation to various agreements; section 38, 104, 278 etc are adhered to and arrange bonds, guarantees, warranties and insurance as called for and required.
    • Interact with internal departments and external stakeholders statutory bodies, local authorities, consultants, suppliers and sub-contractors as necessary in order to achieve Building Regulations and warranty approval and satisfactory planning conditions discharge, adoption agreements, etc within agreed programmes milestones and timescales.
    • Help monitor the NHBC bond facility, proactively identifying and delivering possible reductions and cancellation.
    • Assist in the preparation of key status reports and updates on all KPIs relating to the Technical function.
    • Co-ordinate the appointment of utilities, including designs, quotes and any required agreements and all legal aspects in relation to various agreements and to arrange bonds, guarantees, warranties and insurance as required.
    • Responsible for managing the Adoption process S38, S278, S104 etc
    • Provide engineering/design support to site teams and Internal departments and play a key role in taking construction feedback from build and sales during the development process undertaking feasibility studies and seeking out improvement/value added amendments or revisions to best practice.
    • Be present on site and lead on relevant technical meetings relating to the procurement and approval of site infrastructure.
    • At all times comply with responsibilities under the Company’s Health and Safety and Environmental and Corporate Responsibility Policies and all other company policies, procedures, and instructions.
    • Any other duties as reasonably requested.

    Required Skills & Qualifications:

    • A relevant qualification or strong experience in technical design, and/or civil engineering.
    • Knowledge of engineering requirements of the house building industry and the legal framework associated with Technical standards and requirements.
    • Good Technical and legal knowledge and Financal/Commercial awareness.
    • Good Organisational skills.
    • Flexible and adaptable to changing requirements.
    • Awareness of Type approval with NHBC, LABC and SBD.
    • Numberical and Literat.e
    • Knowledege and application of:

    Highway Design Standards.
    Sewers for adoption.
    Building Regs.
    British Standards.
    AutoCAD.
    The ideal candidate will have previous experience working on high volume, new build housing devlopments with an extensive knowledge and experience of managing labour only groundworkers / subcontractors as well as possessing:

    * Full UK Driving Licence.
    * Excellent knowledge of construction build programmes.
    * Strong commercial awareness.
    * Comprehensive knowledge of construction processes.
    * Experience of successfully delivering customer service requirements.
    * Awareness of codes of practice e.g. NHBC, building regs etx.
