How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Technical Engineer

    Position: Technical Manager / Electrical Project Engineer - Power Generation
    Location: UK-based, ideally London / South East
    Salary: Junior: £30,000-£35,000 | Experienced: £50,000-£60,000

    Overview

    A specialist power-generation business is looking for an electrically biased engineer to support the development and delivery of generator and power-generation projects, from individual generator packages to multi-megawatt installations.

    The role is open to both junior candidates looking to develop their technical expertise and experienced engineers capable of taking ownership of technical solutions and project engineering.

    Responsibilities

    Review customer enquiries and technical specifications, identifying requirements and areas requiring clarification.
    Develop technical solutions based on customer requirements, equipment specifications and project constraints.
    Prepare technical scopes, specifications and requests for quotation.
    Liaise with equipment manufacturers, suppliers and internal teams to progress technical requirements.
    Evaluate supplier proposals and support tender submissions.
    Coordinate the integration of generators, switchgear, transformers, controls and associated electrical systems.
    Work with designers and draughting teams to review drawings, calculations and engineering documentation.
    Identify technical issues, missing information and potential risks.
    Support Project Managers and site teams with technical queries and engineering issues.
    Ensure technical documentation is accurate and complete throughout project delivery.

    Requirements

    An electrical engineering background, supported by relevant qualifications, an apprenticeship or practical experience.
    A genuine interest in electrical power systems and power-generation technology.
    A practical, problem-solving approach and good communication skills.
    The ability to work with customers, suppliers and internal teams.Junior Candidate:

    Ideally around two years' relevant experience, although consideration will be given to candidates with less experience or a suitable electrical engineering apprenticeship and practical background.
    Ideally some exposure to generators, switchgear, controls or industrial electrical systems, although transferable electrical experience will be considered.
    A willingness to learn and progress into a more senior technical role.Experienced Candidate:

    Ideally 5+ years' relevant experience in power generation, generator applications or electrical project engineering.
    Strong knowledge of generator systems and electrical power distribution.
    Experience coordinating suppliers, manufacturers, designers or engineering contractors.
    The ability to assess technical proposals, resolve engineering issues and take ownership of technical solutions.Experience with medium/high-voltage systems, transformers, protection and synchronisation would be advantageous.

    A degree, HNC/HND or equivalent engineering qualification is preferred but not essential where supported by relevant industry experience.

    Salary & Benefits

    Junior: £30,000-£35,000, with scope to develop technical expertise and progress within the business.
    Experienced: £50,000-£60,000, depending on experience and level of responsibility.
