How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Structural CAD Technician

    Location: St Neots, Cambridgeshire

    Salary: £28,000 - £35,000

    A market-leading specialist within temporary roofing, encapsulation and construction systems is looking to appoint an experienced Structural CAD Technician to join its engineering team in St Neots.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CAD professional with a background in structural steel, scaffolding, formwork, falsework, temporary works, manufacturing or non-mechanical construction systems to join a close-knit technical team within a well-established international group.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for producing detailed 2D and 3D drawings, supporting design engineers, maintaining CAD libraries, developing manufacturing documentation and liaising with internal and external stakeholders.

    Structural CAD Technician Salary & Benefits

    £28,000 - £35,000 salary, dependent upon experience

    Structural CAD Technician Job Overview

    Produce detailed 2D and 3D AutoCAD drawings and technical documentation.
    Work closely with internal Design Engineers to develop accurate project and product drawings.
    Liaise with suppliers on technical matters and product development.
    Liaise with external consultants where required.
    Maintain and develop AutoCAD and SketchUp libraries, including blocks, assemblies, components, naming conventions and folder structures.
    Take ownership of manufacturing drawings, documentation and quality control for company products.
    Work with other businesses across the wider group to establish technical documentation standards and best practice.
    Develop proficiency in 3DS Max for animations and technical visualisations.
    Support the development of internal engineering standards and technical documentation.
    Develop technical knowledge of scaffolding systems, temporary works and international construction standards.
    Develop basic structural calculation capability for simple structures.
    Maintain high standards of accuracy, customer service and timely delivery

    Structural CAD Technician Job Requirements

    Minimum 5 years' AutoCAD draughting experience.
    Strong experience with 2D and 3D AutoCAD.
    Level 3 / OND / HND or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering or construction discipline.
    Previous experience within structural steel, scaffolding, formwork, falsework, temporary works, manufacturing or construction systems advantageous.
    Experience using Autodesk Product Design and Manufacturing Suite.
    Autodesk Inventor experience would be advantageous.
    Good Microsoft Office skills.
    Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately to deadlines.
    Good written and verbal communication skills.
    Comfortable liaising with engineers, suppliers, consultants and colleagues.
    Professional membership such as EngTech / IEng would be advantageous but is not essential where strong relevant experience can be demonstrated.
