How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Profile for Health and Safety Officer CF47994

    Bennett and Game Recruitment are working with an established business within the utilities and construction sector who are looking to recruit an experienced HSEQ Officer to support their ongoing operations. Reporting to the Group HSEQ Manager and Operations Director, the successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining health, safety, environmental and quality standards across the business, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, industry accreditations and client requirements.

    The HSEQ Officer will work closely with site teams, subcontractors and senior management to promote safe working practices, support project delivery and ensure the consistent implementation of company policies and procedures.

    Health and Safety Officer Responsibilities:

    Manage and maintain industry accreditations, ensuring ongoing compliance with relevant standards and requirements.
    Maintain employee and subcontractor competency matrices, ensuring all necessary training and qualifications are up to date.
    Manage supplier and subcontractor pre-qualification questionnaires (PQQs) and support applications for prospective clients.
    Conduct site safety inspections, audits and site visits, ensuring safe working practices are followed.
    Review and monitor risk assessments and method statements (RAMS), ensuring suitable control measures are implemented.
    Provide HSEQ advice and support to operational and project teams across the business.
    Coordinate mandatory and technical training for employees.
    Ensure effective subcontractor management arrangements are in place and followed.
    Investigate, record and report accidents, incidents, near misses and non-conformances (NCRs), identifying opportunities for improvement.
    Monitor compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality legislation, policies and procedures.
    Promote environmental awareness and encourage a positive health and safety culture across sites and the wider business.
    Coordinate the authorisation process in line with LRQA requirements and expectations.
    Attend site meetings and contribute to discussions around health, safety and environmental performance.Health and Safety Officer Requirements:

    SMSTS or an equivalent health and safety qualification.
    Experience working within the utilities and/or construction sectors.
    Knowledge and practical experience of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM).
    Strong communication and report-writing skills.
    Good analytical, planning and organisational abilities.
    Competent in the use of Microsoft Office.
    A proactive approach to health and safety, with the ability to engage effectively with site teams, subcontractors and senior management.This is an excellent opportunity for an HSEQ professional to join an established business, supporting a range of operational activities while helping to maintain high standards of health, safety, environmental and quality compliance.
