Senior Software Engineer

We are working with a leading defence organisation looking to recruit a Senior Software Engineer to develop software solutions used to test complex missile systems and their sub-components. The role offers the chance to work across the product lifecycle, contribute to modern engineering practices and develop expertise in automation, continuous integration and DevOps.

Typical responsibilities include:

Designing and developing test equipment software for complex missile systems and sub-components

Writing and maintaining software using C and C++, with opportunities to contribute to scripting and other emerging technologies

Working within an agile development team to deliver reliable, high-quality software solutions

Supporting software quality practices, automated testing and continuous integration

Using electronic measurement and debugging equipment to investigate issues and support test activities

The ideal candidate will have:

Previous software engineering experience developing test solutions

Strong programming skills in C or C++, with scripting experience beneficial

Experience working within an agile software development team

A good understanding of software quality practices, automation, continuous integration and DevOps principles

Knowledge of electronic measurement and debugging techniques using equipment such as oscilloscopes and spectrum analysers

The role typically involves working on-site 3-5 days per week due to the classification of the work. Relocation support may also be available for suitable candidates.
