How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Internet Content Analyst – 2 positions
    Location: Cambridge
    Salary: £35,972.00 per annum
Vacancy Type: Full time (35 hours per week)
“We work to make the internet a safer place.” Never has a truer word been spoken of the Internet Watch Foundation. Our work is trusted by police, governments, and technology companies. Our tech-for-good services are used by over 200 companies, including some of the tech giants. And now you could be part of our team to help us in our mission.
Every day, our team works to remove child sexual abuse images and videos from the internet. It's serious, vital work - and it takes skilled, resilient people to do it. That's where you come in.
We're looking for an Internet Content Analyst to join our Hotline team. You'll apply professional judgement and analytical expertise to assess and investigate reports of online child sexual abuse, received from the public, industry partners and other trusted sources, as well as proactively identifying content yourself.
You'll grade and hash images and videos for inclusion in our Hash List database, help disrupt access to this material through established takedown processes, and generate the actionable intelligence that supports both our day-to-day operations and wider strategic objectives.
    What you'll be doing
    * Assessing and investigating reports of online child sexual abuse against UK legislation and IWF policy
    * Grading and hashing content for inclusion in the IWF Hash List database
    * Identifying hosting locations and facilitating content takedown
    * Spotting emerging trends, technologies and offender behaviours relevant to our work
    Who we're looking for
You'll be a systematic, analytical individual with a considered outlook, strong computer and internet literacy, and precise attention to detail. Just as importantly, you'll understand the challenges of working in our environment. We take welfare seriously and provide a gold-standard support programme.
Due to the nature of our work, this role involves regular exposure to child sexual abuse imagery. All applicants will be subject to enhanced DBS checks prior to confirmation of employment.
£35,972.00 per annum + benefits which include generous annual leave entitlement, pension scheme, life assurance, private health care, cycle to work scheme. We also have on-site parking.
Hours: Full time - 35 hours per week. You will be required to view criminal material and the job is therefore office-based only, in a safe, supportive, and friendly environment on the Science Park in Cambridge. Monthly counselling is provided.
