How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

National Account Manager - Rail (Internal Sales)

    Location: East Kilbride, Glasgow
Salary: Up to £42,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday - Office Based
    Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

We are recruiting for an experienced Internal Sales / Account Management professional to join a well-established and successful supplier of civils and infrastructure products, based at their East Kilbride office.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established Infrastructure team, with a particular focus on customers and projects within the rail sector.

The role will involve managing an existing portfolio of customers, handling day-to-day enquiries, quotations and orders, and developing strong, long-term relationships to ensure a consistently high level of service.

Working closely with experienced colleagues, external sales managers and the wider branch network, you will play an important role in supporting existing accounts and identifying opportunities for additional business.

    Key Responsibilities

Manage and develop relationships with an allocated portfolio of customers, primarily within the rail sector.

Handle incoming customer enquiries, prepare quotations and process sales orders accurately and efficiently.

Liaise with suppliers, branches and internal teams to ensure materials are sourced and delivered in line with customer requirements.

Work closely with external sales managers to support ongoing projects and identify opportunities to grow existing accounts.

Follow up quotations, monitor outstanding enquiries and maintain regular communication with customers.

Provide a professional, responsive and reliable service, ensuring customers are kept informed throughout the sales and order process.

Build a good understanding of the company's product range and customer requirements.

    The Ideal Candidate

Previous experience in internal sales, sales support or account management, ideally within a builders' merchant, civils supplier, construction materials distributor or similar environment.

Experience dealing with customer enquiries, quotations, order processing and account management.

Strong customer service and relationship-building skills, with a proactive and organised approach.

Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues, customers and suppliers.

Comfortable managing multiple enquiries and priorities in a busy sales environment.

Good attention to detail and a practical, commercially aware approach.

Previous experience supplying the rail or infrastructure sectors would be advantageous, although this is not essential.

    What's on Offer?

Salary of up to £42,000 per annum.

Established customer accounts to manage and develop.

Opportunity to work within a successful and experienced Infrastructure sales team.

Stable, permanent position with an established supplier to the construction and infrastructure sectors.

Monday to Friday working pattern, based full-time at the East Kilbride office.

If you have internal sales or account management experience within construction materials, builders' merchants, civils or a related sector, we'd be keen to hear from you.
