How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Leeds

    Are you an experienced Town Planner ready to take the next step in your career? This is an exciting opportunity to join an established engineering business as it opens a brand-new office in Leeds.
    Carrington West are pleased to be working with a growing engineering organisation looking to appoint a Principal Town Planner with private-sector experience to play a key role in establishing its presence in the region.
    This is an opportunity to join at an exciting stage of growth, bringing your planning expertise, commercial awareness and industry relationships to help develop a successful new office.
    The Opportunity
    As Principal Town Planner, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to the growth of the planning function, support the delivery of a range of projects, and build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
    You'll be joining a business where your experience and input can make a genuine difference, with the potential to help shape the future direction of its new Leeds office.
    About You
    We're keen to speak with candidates who have:
    ·Experience operating at Principal Town Planner level or above.
    ·A strong background in private-sector planning, ideally within a consultancy or multidisciplinary engineering environment.
    ·MUST have a town planning degree or masters
    ·MRPTI or working towards
    ·A sound understanding of the UK planning system and development process.
    ·Experience managing planning projects and working with clients, consultants and other stakeholders.
    ·Strong commercial awareness and the ability to identify opportunities for business growth.
    ·Excellent communication, relationship-building and project management skills.
    ·The ambition to play a key role in establishing and growing a new office.
