How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Quantity Surveyor | Infrastructure

    Salary: £50,000 – £65,000
    Location: Midlands

    CETO Talent are currently supporting a growing infrastructure consultancy with the appointment of an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in the Midlands.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor with experience across rail, highways, utilities, civil engineering or major infrastructure projects to join a business working across a diverse range of UK infrastructure programmes.

    The role will provide the opportunity to take ownership of commercial activities across projects, working closely with clients, contractors, consultants and wider project teams to ensure strong commercial management and successful project delivery.

    The Role

    As Quantity Surveyor, you will provide commercial and quantity surveying support across a portfolio of infrastructure projects, from inception through to completion.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    - Providing professional quantity surveying and commercial support across infrastructure projects.

    - Preparing, submitting and assessing interim applications, valuations and payment recommendations.

    - Assessing, negotiating and agreeing variations, compensation events and change control.

    - Monitoring project costs, budgets, forecasts and cash flow.

    - Maintaining accurate commercial records, documentation and contract correspondence.

    - Administering NEC contracts and supporting the management of contractual obligations, risks and opportunities.

    - Managing the commercial aspects of allocated work packages and subcontract accounts.

    - Preparing commercial reports, forecasts and cost updates for clients and internal stakeholders.

    - Building strong working relationships with clients, contractors, consultants and project stakeholders.

    - Supporting procurement, tender evaluation and wider commercial improvement initiatives.

    About You

    We’re looking for a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor who has a strong understanding of the infrastructure environment and is comfortable working with clients and project teams.

    You should have:

    - A degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline.

    - Experience working within infrastructure, civil engineering, highways, rail, utilities or - ajor construction.

    - Experience administering NEC contracts, ideally NEC3 and/or NEC4.

    - Experience assessing applications for payment, compensation events and change control.

    - Strong understanding of cost management, forecasting and commercial reporting.

    - Excellent analytical, negotiation and communication skills.

    - The ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively within project teams.

    Desirable Experience

    It would be advantageous if you also have:

    - Consultancy or client-side experience.

    - Experience working on rail and wider infrastructure projects.

    - Experience using CEMAR or similar contract management systems.

    - Knowledge of public sector procurement processes.

    - Experience supporting tender evaluations and procurement exercises.

    - Working towards or holding MRICS or another relevant professional qualification.
