Technique Recruitment Solutions are working on behalf of a leading engineering manufacturer based near Lowestoft. They are looking for an HNC qualified project engineer to join their team, part of the role will be UK and international travel as required.
Role Purpose
The Project Engineer is responsible for managing smaller engineering projects and supporting Project Managers on larger turnkey capital equipment projects.
Working within the Projects Department, the role provides technical, commercial and project coordination support throughout the project lifecycle, from project handover and requirements definition through engineering, manufacture, testing, installation, commissioning and final customer acceptance.
The Project Engineer works closely with customers, suppliers and internal departments to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and in accordance with agreed technical and commercial requirements.
This role requires a proactive, organised and customer-focused individual who can manage multiple priorities while driving projects forward to successful completion.
Overall Objective
To successfully manage smaller projects while providing technical, commercial and project coordination support on larger turnkey projects, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule and to the satisfaction of the customer.
The Project Engineer will contribute to project delivery, profitability and continuous improvement by working collaboratively across the business and maintaining high standards of quality, professionalism and customer service.
Essential Experience
•Experience within engineering, manufacturing, automation, machinery or a related industry.
•Experience managing or supporting engineering, capital equipment or automation projects.
•Experience coordinating activities across multiple departments.
•Experience working directly with customers, suppliers and subcontractors.
•Experience supporting FAT, SAT, installation or commissioning activities.
•Ability to manage multiple priorities and project deadlines.
Essential Skills & Qualifications
•HNC-qualified in Engineering (preferred), or equivalent practical experience gained within a machinery, automation, manufacturing, or project engineering environment.
•Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
•Experience using AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
•Proficiency in Microsoft 365, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, with good IT skills.
•Experience using Microsoft Project.
•Strong organisational, communication and project coordination skills.
•Good commercial awareness and understanding of project budgets and costs.
•Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
•Customer-focused with a proactive and professional approach.
•Willingness to undertake international travel.
Desirable Experience
•Experience within an OEM or special-purpose machinery manufacturer.
•Experience with automated packaging machinery or production-line equipment.
•Experience producing URS and Functional Specifications.
•Knowledge of machinery safety and compliance standards.
Project Management & Coordination
•Manage smaller projects from handover through to completion.
•Support Project Managers on larger and more complex turnkey projects.
•Coordinate project schedules, activities, resources and deliverables.
•Monitor progress against scope, budget and programme.
•Identify and manage project risks, issues and actions.
•Maintain project records, reports and documentation.
•Escalate significant technical, commercial or scheduling concerns when required.
