How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Do you want to help people stay mobile, independent and confident

At AIC, we supply and install specialist vehicle adaptations that help people with disabilities or reduced mobility maintain their independence. As one of the UK's largest vehicle adaptation installation companies, we provide a wide range of solutions to customers nationwide.

We're looking for a practical, customer-focused Vehicle Adaptation Installation Engineer to join our Peterborough team. This is a hands-on automotive role combining technical installation work, customer interaction and ongoing training. You'll work across customer locations, dealerships and the workshop, ensuring every adaptation is fitted safely and to a high standard.

It's an opportunity to develop specialist engineering skills while making a genuine difference to people's everyday lives.

A Day in the Life and the Impact You'll Make

You'll install and service specialist vehicle adaptations, carry out quality checks and demonstrate products to customers so they can use their adaptations safely and confidently.

Working independently and alongside the wider team, you'll help deliver a professional service and ensure every job is completed accurately and on schedule.

    What You'll Do

    •  Install and service a range of specialist vehicle adaptation products to the required standards.•  Complete quality-control checks to ensure every installation meets a high standard.•  Carry out mobile installations at customer addresses and dealerships, alongside workshop-based work as required.•  Demonstrate installed products and explain their safe operation to customers.•  Follow daily and weekly schedules, completing jobs within agreed timescales.•  Complete accurate job reports and follow-up email communication.•  Undertake ongoing technical training, including relevant auto electrical, electric vehicle, welding and fabrication skills.•  Support stock checks and maintain good housekeeping standards.•  Help maintain company vehicles, equipment and tools.•  Travel as required and work effectively both independently and as part of the team.

    What You'll Bring

    •  A practical, hands-on approach and pride in delivering high-quality work.•  Good automotive or engineering aptitude.•  Basic understanding of auto electrics, with a willingness to develop your technical skills.•  Strong communication and customer-service skills.•  A flexible, conscientious approach and the ability to work to deadlines.•  Confidence working independently while contributing positively to a team.•  Basic IT skills for completing job reports and communicating by email.•  A valid driving licence.•  A willingness to complete all training required for the role.

Previous vehicle adaptation, vehicle technician or automotive engineering experience would be advantageous, but it isn't essential. Experience in auto electrics, electric vehicles, welding or fabrication would also be beneficial.

What You'll Receive for the Value You Bring

    •  Competitive salary dependent on experience. •  Working hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm.•  Holiday: 23 days plus statutory holidays.•  Pension: Employer contribution pension scheme available from day one.•  Life insurance and an Employee Assistance Programme.•  Profit Related Pay.•  Overtime when required and available.•  Use of a company van when required.•  Structured, ongoing on-the-job training and development, including relevant electric vehicle, auto electrical, welding and fabrication training.

    Why Join AIC

You'll join a growing business with a skilled, customer-focused team that takes pride in its workmanship and the difference its work makes.

Whether you already have automotive experience or bring practical engineering skills and a willingness to learn, AIC offers the opportunity to develop specialist expertise and build a long-term career in vehicle adaptations.
