How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    About the Role

We are seeking a caring, calm and organised Medical Officer & Attendance Support to join a supportive Special Educational Needs (SEN) school for young people aged 11–19.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people with additional needs in a nurturing and therapeutic environment. You will play a key role in ensuring students' medical needs are managed safely, attendance is monitored effectively, and every student feels safe, supported and ready to learn.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Provide first aid and respond appropriately to medical emergencies.

    * Support students with medical conditions and additional healthcare needs.

    * Administer and manage medication safely, maintaining accurate records.

    * Develop, implement and review Individual Healthcare Plans.

    * Monitor student attendance and follow up on unexplained or concerning absences.

    * Liaise with parents, carers, healthcare professionals and external agencies.

    * Coordinate vaccinations, medical appointments and other health-related arrangements.

    * Ensure students' medical needs are considered during school trips and activities.

    * Support staff in understanding and managing students' individual healthcare requirements.

    * Maintain first-aid supplies, medical equipment and emergency procedures.

    * Keep medical, welfare and attendance records accurate, confidential and up to date.

    * Promote student wellbeing and contribute to a safe, inclusive and supportive school environment.

    Requirements

The ideal candidate will be compassionate, patient and confident in supporting young people with additional needs.

    You should have:

    * Excellent organisational and time-management skills.

    * Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

    * The ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.

    * A caring and approachable manner when working with students.

    * The ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.

    * A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.

    * The ability to work independently while recognising when to seek guidance.

    * A genuine commitment to supporting students' health, wellbeing and educational progress.

A first-aid qualification is desirable, although candidates willing to undertake relevant training will also be considered. Previous experience in healthcare support, medication management, attendance monitoring or developing healthcare plans would be advantageous.

Experience working within a school, SEN provision or a similar setting would be beneficial.

    What the School Offers

    * The opportunity to make a meaningful difference in young people's lives.

    * A welcoming and supportive working environment.

    * The chance to build positive relationships with students, families and colleagues.

    * Access to staff wellbeing support, including confidential helpline services, counselling, virtual GP services and digital wellbeing resources.

    * A paid volunteer day to support a cause that matters to you.

    Safeguarding Requirements

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All appointments will be subject to safer recruitment procedures, including:

    * An Enhanced DBS check.

    * A Prohibited Teacher Check.

    * Relevant safeguarding and compliance checks.

Applicants must have the right to work in the UK.

    How to Apply

If you are a caring, reliable and organised individual who is passionate about student wellbeing and wants to make a real difference in an SEN school, we would love to hear from you
