The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity for a FIRAS accredited Passive Fire Site Manager to join a well-established fire protection contractor on a contract of up to six months at Leeds Teaching Hospital. The role requires an immediate start and involves overseeing a team of between 10 and 20 operatives delivering primarily fire stopping works, with some fire door works also involved, across a live NHS hospital environment.
There are two non-negotiable requirements for this role. Candidates must hold both before applying:
* FIRAS Supervisor accreditation for fire stopping
* Enhanced DBS check (current and valid)
The role involves a mixture of day and night shifts — out of hours working will be charged at 1.5x the day rate.
The Role
As Passive Fire Site Manager, you will act as the most senior person on site, taking full responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of fire stopping works across Leeds Teaching Hospital. With no Site Manager above you, you will be the key decision-maker on site — managing a large team, overseeing compliance and quality, and acting as the primary point of contact for the client and project team throughout.
Key Responsibilities
* Take full on-site responsibility for the delivery of fire stopping works — with some fire door works also involved — across a live NHS hospital environment
* Manage and coordinate a team of between 10 and 20 operatives and subcontractors
* Certify and sign off completed fire stopping works under FIRAS accreditation
* Carry out initial project briefs and produce short-term schedules of works based on the master programme
* Collate drawings, specifications and client information to plan works appropriately on site
* Identify material requirements and liaise with the office to ensure supplies are delivered in good condition
* Monitor productivity and provide constructive feedback and coaching to site teams
* Carry out weekly stock takes and produce weekly progress reports
* Implement and maintain HSEQ systems across the site
* Ensure all operatives have appropriate PPE and that signage is correctly displayed at all times
* Maintain a safe environment for patients, staff and members of the public throughout
* Liaise with clients professionally and attend meetings as required
* Ensure all works are completed in line with FIRAS standards and passive fire compliance requirements
What We’re Looking For
* FIRAS Supervisor accreditation – Fire Stopping — absolute requirement
* Enhanced DBS check (current and valid) — absolute requirement
* Proven experience as a Site Manager within passive fire protection with a primary focus on fire stopping — essential
* Fire door knowledge — desirable
* Experience managing large teams of 10 or more operatives on site — essential
* Experience working within NHS, healthcare or similarly sensitive occupied environments — strongly desirable
* SMSTS — required
* CSCS Card — required
* First Aid — required
* Full UK Driving Licence — required
* Comfortable working a mixture of day and night shifts — essential
