How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We're looking for a reliable and focused Controls Engineer to join our team in Chichester.

    Apply today to work as a Controls Engineer for our client, a luxury automotive brand.

    The rate of pay is up to £24.28 per hour.

    Overtime is available and is paid at:
    - Monday to Friday x1.33
    - Saturday x1.5
    - Sunday x2
    All subject to WTA terms and conditions

    This is a full-time role working Monday to Friday, up to 45 hours per week (production dependant). The hours of work are between 06:00 to 00:00, rotating weekly shift pattern (early and late shift).

    Your Time at Work

    The Controls Engineer is responsible for ensuring efficiency of all automated systems, safety and maximum uptime within the motor manufacturing paint shop. This role focuses on programming, troubleshooting, and optimizing PLC, HMI, automated paint application processes and supporting group digitalisation.
    Key responsibilities:
    - Provide rapid-response technical support for automated spray booths, ovens, conveyors, Automated Guided Vehicles, and material mixing rooms.
    - Perform regular backups and manage version control for all PLC programs and robotic configurations.
    - Modify and write PLC (e.g. Siemens) and HMI code to improve cycle times.
    - Create and maintain body routing within the controls system within the paint shop
    - Manage controls-related upgrades, equipment installations, and commissioning of new paint technologies and/or facilities

    Our Perfect Worker

    Our perfect worker will have:

    - Bachelor's degree in electrical, automation, mechatronics, or controls engineering
    - Minimum of 3-5 years of controls engineering experience in an automotive or high-volume manufacturing environment
    - Direct experience working in an automotive paint shop or chemical processing plant is desired, but not essential
