How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Our client, a principal contractor in the water and civil engineering sector, is seeking a General Foreman / Site Manager for a contract position on a major wastewater treatment works project near Bournemouth. The role will involve supervising site operations, coordinating construction activities and supporting the successful delivery of civil engineering works in a safety-critical environment.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Supervising daily site operations across the wastewater treatment works project
    Coordinating site teams, subcontractors and suppliers to maintain project progress
    Monitoring civil engineering and water infrastructure works to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications
    Maintaining high standards of health, safety, quality and environmental performance
    Allocating labour, plant and materials effectively across the site
    Working closely with the Site Manager, engineers and project management team
    Identifying and resolving site issues to support the programme and delivery milestones
    Completing site records, inspections and progress updates as required

    Job Requirements:

    Experience as a General Foreman, Site Manager or similar position within civil engineering
    Background in the water industry, wastewater treatment or utilities construction
    Strong understanding of construction methods, site coordination and civil engineering works
    Knowledge of health and safety requirements within a construction environment
    Ability to supervise teams and manage subcontractor activities effectively
    Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills
    Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications and project documentation
    Relevant site management qualifications, such as SMSTS, would be advantageous
