How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Fire Engineer, Bristol - £34,000 to £40,000 DOE, Permanent | Field Based

    We are recruiting for a Fire Engineer to join an established and growing Fire & Security business covering the Bristol area.

    This is a hands-on service role focused on fire alarm and life-safety systems, with a strong emphasis on maintenance, reactive fault finding and repairs.

    The role could suit someone who already has solid fire engineering experience or somebody earlier in their career who has strong electrical foundations, good fault-finding ability and wants to continue developing technically.

    The role will include

    * Servicing and maintaining fire alarm systems

    * Reactive fault finding and breakdown response

    * Routine system testing

    * Completing like-for-like repairs

    * Identifying and diagnosing electrical and system faults

    * Carrying out minor remedial works

    * Emergency lighting testing and maintenance

    * Completing service records and documentation

    * Working independently across customer sites

    * Liaising professionally with customers

    * Participating in the on-call rota

    We are looking for

    * Hands-on fire alarm or fire life-safety experience

    * Good electrical competence

    * Experience servicing and maintaining fire systems

    * Confident fault-finding ability

    * Comfortable carrying out routine reactive repairs

    * Good customer-facing skills

    * Full UK driving licence

    Experience with systems such as Advanced, Kentec, Gent, Morley, C-Tec or Hochiki would be useful.

    Experience with emergency lighting would also be beneficial.

    Relevant FIA, FESS, ECS or electrical qualifications would be advantageous, but technical ability and practical experience are equally important.

    This role could also offer the opportunity to broaden into more advanced fire work and potentially wider security systems over time.
