How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Children & Young People – Residential Career Opportunities

Permanent Opportunities; both full time and bank.

Leicestershire; Market Harborough, Leicester, Hinckley, Syston, Mountsorrel and Coalville

Multiple Levels; Bank Worker, Night Residential Support Worker, Day Residential Support Worker, Senior Residential Support Worker, Deputy Home Manager and Registered Home Manager.

    Excellent Career Progression

Are you passionate about making a genuine difference to the lives of children and young people? Are you looking for more than just your next job - a career where you can develop, progress and build a future? We are currently recruiting for a range of exciting opportunities within a growing network of residential children's services across Leicestershire.

A career, not just a job!!

These services support some of the most vulnerable children and young people, including those who may have experienced trauma and require a safe, nurturing and supportive environment. There are a variety of specialist services, including contextual safeguarding, overnight short breaks, family assessment, mental health and emotional wellbeing.

Your role will involve building positive relationships with young people, supporting their day-to-day lives and development, contributing to care planning, safeguarding, working with families and professionals, and helping young people to thrive. But what really makes these opportunities exciting is the career progression available to you.

Your career can grow with you...

You don't have to stay in the same position forever. Everyone is supported to work towards a Level 4 qualification in Children & Young People, giving you the opportunity to strengthen your knowledge, skills and professional development. As you progress into management, you can then work towards a Level 5 qualification in Leadership & Management. There are opportunities to progress through roles such as:

Residential Children & Young People's Worker → Senior Worker → Deputy Manager → Registered Manager → Regional Manager → Operations Manager → Responsible Individual

Your starting point doesn't have to be your finishing point. We want to invest in people who want to develop their careers, and your experience, ambition and performance can open doors to your next opportunity. You will have a designated home as your main base. However, there are opportunities to work within the wider network when you want to:
Gain experience in different types of children's services
    Develop new skills
Take on additional shifts and overtime
Broaden your experience for future promotion
    Support another home when required
    Explore your next career opportunity

The wider network can also create opportunities for progression. For example, if you are ready for promotion but the next management opportunity isn't immediately available at your own home, there may be opportunities elsewhere within the wider service, meaning your career doesn't have to wait for a vacancy to appear directly above you.

A career that can last for years!

One of the biggest advantages of joining a large and growing organisation is that your career doesn't have to end because your circumstances change. The organisation currently operates 800 services and counting, with services across the country. So whether you want to remain in Leicestershire for the long term, progress into senior leadership, or relocate somewhere else in the future, there is the potential to continue your career within the same organisation. There are also continually new opportunities developing, with contracts and projects being secured with local authorities and councils. This means new services, new projects and new challenges can create further opportunities for people who want to progress.

    Transferable experience is welcome.

We're particularly interested in people who are passionate about working with children and young people, can build positive and nurturing relationships, understand the importance of safeguarding and want to make a genuine difference.

    Why consider this opportunity?
    ✔️ Permanent career opportunities
    ✔️ Multiple levels of progression
✔️ Your own designated base home
✔️ Opportunities to work across the wider network if you want to
    ✔️ Overtime opportunities
    ✔️ Funded/supportive professional development
✔️ Level 4 Children & Young People development pathway
✔️ Level 5 Leadership & Management pathway for management progression
✔️ Clear opportunities to progress into senior leadership
✔️ Opportunities to develop into Regional and Operations Management
✔️ Potential for a long-term career within one organisation
✔️ New services and projects continually developing
✔️ Opportunities to relocate in the future without necessarily having to leave the organisation
✔️ The opportunity to make a genuine difference to children and young people's lives

    Ready for your next step?

If you're looking for a role where you can make a difference now and build a career for the future, we'd love to hear from you. There are opportunities across different levels of experience, so don't worry if you don't tick every box on day one.

Your next job could be the start of a career that lasts for years!
