How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    PRU Teaching Assistant - Merthyr Tydfil | Ad-hoc opportunities

    Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking for a new challenge? Academics are currently recruiting PRU Teaching Assistants for a school in Merthyr Tydfil, offering a range of flexible supply opportunities from day-to-day, ad-hoc bookings to short-term and long-term placements.

    This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience supporting pupils with challenging behaviour who understands the importance of trauma-informed practice and building positive relationships with young people.

    The Role

    As a PRU Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities may include:

    Supporting pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs

    Working with primary and secondary-aged pupils

    Supporting pupils who display challenging behaviour

    Using trauma-informed approaches to build trust and positive relationships

    Encouraging emotional regulation and positive behaviour

    Helping pupils engage with learning and classroom activities

    Providing one-to-one and small-group support where required

    Working closely with teachers and other school staff

    Helping create a safe, calm and supportive learning environment

    Following individual support plans and behaviour strategies

    Maintaining safeguarding standards and school procedures

    We're Looking For as a PRU Teaching Assistant

    Previous experience working with pupils with challenging behaviour

    An understanding of trauma-informed practice

    Experience supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs is desirable

    Flexibility and confidence adapting to different situations

    A genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning
