How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    An experienced Project Architect is required to join an established, design-led architectural practice in Central Birmingham. The business employs close to 100 people across 3 offices in the UK, with the Birmingham head office forming the largest studio. Our client run under an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) structure, allowing successful candidate to have more control, influence and understanding of the business as well as future profit-share opportunity following qualifying service. Following significant growth over recent years, the practice is looking to strengthen their architectural team with an experienced Project Architect who can take responsibility for project delivery and work closely with the Associate Directors and Architectural Directors.

    The practice has an excellent pipeline of Education projects. Current work includes numerous major DfE school developments, alongside substantial Higher Education schemes including university laboratories, medical schools and teaching facilities with individual project values reaching £150m. This is an excellent opportunity for a Project Architect looking to progress their career within a collaborative practice, taking ownership of significant projects while working alongside an experienced and supportive senior team.

    Salary & Benefits

    Salary up to £50,000 DOE.
    37.5-hour working week.

    Opportunity to take significant responsibility for project delivery and progression within the practice.Project Architect Overview

    Take responsibility for the delivery of architectural projects as part of an established multidisciplinary team.
    Work predominantly across DfE Schools and Higher Education projects.
    Lead projects through multiple RIBA stages, from developed design through to technical design and delivery.
    Work on complex school developments where new facilities must be carefully phased around existing operational school environments.
    Develop and coordinate architectural designs for major education projects, including teaching facilities, laboratories, medical schools and associated facilities.
    Coordinate project information across Architects, Technologists, consultants and wider multidisciplinary teams.
    Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants and other project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
    Produce and review architectural drawings, specifications, schedules and presentation material.
    Assist with and coordinate planning, technical and construction information.
    Support and mentor junior members of the architectural team.
    Help ensure projects are delivered to programme, budget and the required quality standards.
    Use Revit to develop and coordinate project information.Project Architect Requirements

    Qualified Architect with approximately 3 years' + post-qualification experience preferred.
    Strong background within Architecture and the UK built environment.
    Previous Education experience is strongly preferred, particularly schools or Higher Education.
    Experience working on projects through multiple RIBA stages, ideally including technical design and construction.
    Strong understanding of project delivery, consultant coordination and technical design.
    Confident liaising with clients and coordinating multidisciplinary project teams.
    Strong design ability combined with good technical knowledge.
    Experience taking responsibility for projects and managing elements of project delivery.
