How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Peripatetic Specialist Teaching & Learning Assistant (STLA)

    High Peak / Chesterfield Area
    Full-time | Term Time Only | 37 Hours per Week
    Salary: £26,400 - £28,152 Actual Salary (Grade 8 Equivalent)

    Tradewind Recruitment are working in partnership with a specialist alternative provision seeking a dedicated and resilient Peripatetic Specialist Teaching & Learning Assistant (STLA) to support pupils with complex social, emotional and behavioural needs across the High Peak and Chesterfield areas.

    This rewarding role involves providing 1:1 educational and pastoral support to pupils who have been permanently excluded or are at risk of exclusion from mainstream education. You will work directly with young people in their homes and community settings, helping them to re-engage with learning and achieve positive outcomes.

    The Role

    As a Peripatetic STLA, you will:

    Deliver tailored 1:1 support in English, Maths and Personal Development.
    Support pupils with barriers to education, including SEMH, behavioural, emotional and social difficulties.
    Build positive relationships with pupils and their families from the point of referral.
    Complete baseline assessments and contribute to personalised learning plans.
    Support pupils with Functional Skills examinations and educational transitions.
    Accompany pupils to visits at alternative provisions, colleges or prospective schools where appropriate.
    Manage your own diary and caseload independently.
    Provide additional support within the provision when required.

    About You

    The successful candidate will have:

    Experience working with secondary-aged pupils in schools, alternative provisions or similar educational settings.
    A strong understanding of behaviour support and pupil engagement strategies.
    Excellent relationship-building skills and a creative, flexible approach.
    High expectations, resilience and a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people.
    The ability to work independently and confidently in a lone-working capacity.
    A positive attitude, growth mindset and sense of humour.

    Essential Requirements

    Full UK driving licence and daily access to a vehicle.
    Business use insurance.
    Willingness to travel across the local area.
    Ability to transport pupils when required.
    Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
