How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Mechanical Engineer / Field Support Engineer

    Location: UK-wide (predominantly Scotland east) / Site Based
    Working Pattern: Monday to Friday
    Travel: Regular travel and overnight stays required
    Employment Type: Permanent
    We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Engineer / Field Support Engineer to join a specialist engineering team based in Dunfermline working across general industrial and wet process environments.
    This is a field-based, customer-facing position that would suit an experienced engineer with a strong background in process equipment, pipework and water-related applications.
    You will work on customer sites, providing technical support and assisting with installation, maintenance and engineering activities across a range of process systems and equipment.

    Key Responsibilities

    Provide field engineering and technical support to customers.
    Work with process pipework, including PVC-U pipe and fittings.
    Support the installation and servicing of process equipment.
    Work with instrumentation covering:
    Flow
    Level
    Pressure
    Temperature
    Work with a range of water quality instrumentation, including turbidity, chlorine and pH systems.
    Assist with technical issues and project requirements.
    Maintain a professional and customer-focused approach at all times.
    Ensure all work is carried out safely and to the required standards.
    Travel to customer sites and stay away from home during the working week as required.

    Essential Requirements

    Previous experience as a Field Support Engineer or similar engineering role.
    Experience within a general industrial, process or wet process environment.
    Practical experience with pipework and process equipment.
    A recognised engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
    CSCS, ECS or equivalent industry card.
    Strong customer-facing and communication skills.
    Full, clean UK driving licence.
    Willingness to travel and stay away from home during the week.
