How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Electrical Installation Engineer

    Location: UK-wide (predominantly Scotland east and central) / Site Based
    Working Pattern: Monday to Friday
    Travel: Regular travel and overnight stays required
    Employment Type: Permanent
    We are currently recruiting for an experienced Electrical Installation Engineer to join a growing Dunfermline based engineering team supporting projects across the water utilities and wider engineering sectors.
    This is a hands-on, customer-facing role suited to a qualified electrical engineer who takes pride in their work, has excellent attention to detail and can work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
    You will be involved in electrical and instrumentation installation activities, supporting technical projects and assisting with the resolution of engineering issues on customer sites.

    Key Responsibilities

    Carry out electrical installation and associated engineering works on customer sites.
    Undertake electrical inspection and testing.
    Support electrical and instrumentation installation projects.
    Assist with technical issues and project requirements.
    Work closely with customers, colleagues and other engineering teams.
    Ensure work is completed safely, accurately and to the required standards.
    Travel to customer sites and stay away from home during the working week as required.

    Essential Requirements

    ECS, CSCS or SJIB-approved electrician qualification, including 18th Edition.
    Experience in electrical installation and inspection/testing.
    Good knowledge of electrical systems and installations.
    Instrumentation knowledge.
    Strong communication and customer-facing skills.
    Full, clean UK driving licence.
    Willingness to travel and stay away from home during the week.

    Desirable Experience

    Electrical and/or instrumentation installation experience within the water utilities or engineering sectors.
    Knowledge of PLC, SCADA and systems integration.
    Water industry experience.
