How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Electrical Commissioning Manager – Data Centres

    Location: UK – site based

Unite People are recruiting an experienced Electrical Commissioning Manager to join a construction consultancy supporting major UK data centre developments.

Working within the client-side delivery team, you will oversee electrical installation completion, system readiness and Levels 1–3 commissioning. You will coordinate contractors, specialist vendors and commissioning teams to ensure systems are ready for safe energisation, testing and handover.

    Key responsibilities:

    *

Oversee electrical installation completion, inspections, testing and commissioning readiness.

    *

Review commissioning plans, test procedures, schedules and technical documentation.

    *

Monitor works across electrical distribution systems, switchgear, transformers, UPS systems and generators.

    *

Undertake system walkdowns, identifying defects and outstanding works ahead of energisation.

    *

Review isolation, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and switching procedures with authorised electrical personnel.

    *

Coordinate contractors and equipment vendors against commissioning milestones.

    *

Identify technical constraints, monitor progress and challenge recovery proposals where required.

    *

Support readiness for Level 4 functional testing and Level 5 integrated systems testing.

    *

Oversee commissioning records, as-built information and system handover documentation.

    Requirements:

    *

Minimum 10 years’ experience in electrical engineering, construction, commissioning or a related discipline.

    *

Significant experience managing electrical installation completion, testing and commissioning.

    *

Experience delivering data centre or other mission-critical electrical infrastructure projects.

    *

Strong knowledge of electrical distribution, switchgear, transformers, UPS systems and associated equipment.

    *

Experience coordinating Levels 1–3 commissioning or equivalent inspection, testing and start-up processes.

    *

Thorough understanding of electrical safety, energisation readiness, isolation and LOTO procedures.

    *

Relevant degree or equivalent technical qualification.

    *

Strong communication skills and the confidence to challenge contractor performance constructively.

Hyperscale data centre experience, familiarity with Levels 4–5 commissioning and previous client-side experience are desirable. Candidates from electrical contractor, main contractor or specialist commissioning backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Applicants must be able to work full-time on site, travel where required and support planned testing and energisation windows. Appropriate UK right-to-work status is required.
