Altera Recruitment Group is representing an established multidisciplinary engineering business specialising in the water and wastewater sector, as it continues to grow its design team with the appointment of an EC&I Design Engineer.
This position is particularly suited to an EC&I engineer with a strong Control and Automation background who enjoys developing the technical approach behind how process facilities operate. As a EC&I Engineer you will be involved in defining control philosophies, developing User Requirement Specifications, specifying instrumentation and supporting the delivery of integrated EC&I solutions from concept through to construction.
Key Responsibilities of an EC&I Engineer
* Develop detailed control strategies and functional descriptions that establish how process systems should operate and interact.
* Produce User Requirement Specifications and define the technical requirements for automation, instrumentation and control systems.
* Work with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop and review P&IDs, instrumentation specifications and control system architectures.
* Visit operational sites to assess existing EC&I infrastructure and develop practical solutions for upgrades, modifications and new installations.
* Contribute to EC&I and LV electrical design, including equipment specifications, calculations, schedules, single line diagrams, motor control and variable speed drive applications.
Candidate Requirements
* Previous professional experience in EC&I, Control & Instrumentation or a comparable engineering design role, preferably within a process led industry.
* Strong practical experience developing control philosophies and User Requirement Specifications, with the ability to turn operational requirements into clear engineering designs.
* Experience working with existing process facilities and integrating new control, instrumentation or automation systems into operational environments.
* Industry experience within water and wastewater, oil and gas, pharmaceutical, chemical, anaerobic digestion or another comparable process industry.
* An engineering qualification such as a BSc, BEng, HNC or HND in Control, Instrumentation, Electrical, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant industry experience.
What’s on Offer
* Competitive salary of £45,000 to £65,000, depending on experience, technical expertise and level of responsibility.
