How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location: Kingston Upon Thames, South West London
    School Type: Independent Specialist SEN School
    Contract: Full-time, Long-term
    Working Hours: Monday–Friday, 08:30 – 16:30 Term-time only
    Start Date: ASAP
    Salary: £108.35 per day

    Pertemps Education Network is working in partnership with an independent specialist SEN school in Kingston Upon Thames to recruit a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with speech, language and communication needs.
    This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate looking to gain valuable, hands-on experience within a specialist educational setting. The role would suit an aspiring Educational Psychologist, Speech and Language Therapist, Clinical Psychologist, SEN Teacher or another professional looking to pursue a career supporting children with additional needs.

    The Role

    As a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside experienced teachers, specialist support staff and other professionals to help pupils access learning, develop their communication skills and build confidence and independence.
    Your responsibilities will include:

    Providing dedicated 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with speech, language and communication needs.
    Supporting the development of communication, social interaction, emotional regulation and independent learning skills.
    Assisting teachers in delivering engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning needs.
    Helping pupils overcome barriers to learning through patient, structured and consistent support.
    Encouraging positive behaviour, confidence and meaningful participation in classroom activities.
    Working collaboratively with teachers, SEN specialists and speech and language professionals to support individual pupil targets.
    Contributing to a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every pupil can thrive.The Ideal Candidate

    We are keen to hear from graduates who are passionate about supporting children with additional needs and eager to develop their understanding of specialist education.

    You may have a degree in:

    Psychology or Child Development
    Speech and Language Therapy or Linguistics
    Education or Childhood Studies
    Sociology or a related social sciencePrevious experience working with children with SEN, speech and language difficulties, autism or communication needs would be advantageous. However, applications from enthusiastic graduates with relevant transferable experience, including tutoring, mentoring, childcare, volunteering or care work, are also encouraged.
