How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Full Time, Permanent

Reporting directly to the Regional Managing Director, you will play a pivotal role in promoting a positive health, safety and environmental culture across our construction operations, ensuring the highest standards of compliance, performance and continual improvement.

This is a highly visible regional position where you will provide expert guidance and support to project and management teams, helping to create safe working environments while driving best practice across all areas of health, safety and environmental management. You will lead inspections and audits, support incident prevention initiatives, ensure compliance with company policies and integrated management system procedures, and work collaboratively with stakeholders to identify risks and deliver effective solutions.

The successful candidate will undertake regular inspections and audits across projects and regional offices, ensuring all required documentation, notices, certificates and emergency information are in place and up to date. You will provide advice and guidance to operational teams, support improvement plans where required, liaise with enforcing authorities and statutory bodies, and help ensure the region maintains full compliance with relevant legislation and company standards. You will also support the delivery of training and promote a proactive approach to accident and incident prevention.

We are seeking an experienced health, safety and environment professional with a strong construction background, ideally gained within housebuilding, housing refurbishment or wider residential construction. You will hold a relevant NEBOSH qualification or equivalent and maintain membership of a professional body such as IOSH. Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards is essential, while an environmental qualification such as IEMA would be advantageous.

As this role covers multiple projects throughout the East Midlands region, a full UK driving licence and willingness to travel are essential. You will be a confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, an enquiring mindset and a genuine passion for promoting a safe, sustainable and compliant working environment. A commitment to continuous professional
