How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Electrical Commissioning Engineer – HPC

    Location: Somerset
    Salary: £70,000 – £75,000 per annum
Working Pattern: 5 days per week | 37 hours per week

We are currently looking for Electrical Commissioning Engineers to join a major nuclear project in Somerset, supporting the successful commissioning of HPC as part of the wider NNB Commissioning Programme.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced electrical engineers with a background in commissioning, fault finding, testing and return-to-service activities, particularly those who have worked within high-hazard, industrial or safety-critical environments.

    The Role

As an Electrical Commissioning Engineer, you will work closely with contractors, the project delivery team, site engineering and plant operations to safely and successfully commission electrical systems.

Engineers will typically be aligned to HV, LV, DC or generator systems, although you will be expected to work across different electrical disciplines throughout the contract.

The role covers a broad range of electrical systems and voltages, including:

    400kV

    10kV

    690VAC

    400VAC

    220VDC

    Control and associated electrical systems

    Key Responsibilities

Participate in commissioning and project team meetings.

Liaise with designers and Project Managers regarding electrical deliverables.

Develop commissioning documentation covering testing and system validation.

Contribute to design reviews, ensuring systems and plant layouts support effective commissioning.

Plan commissioning activities and take ownership of a programme of commissioning tests.

Prepare for and execute site commissioning activities.

Supervise contractor commissioning personnel to ensure safe and successful delivery.

Carry out commissioning tests in accordance with approved Commissioning Test Procedures.

Analyse, verify and validate commissioning results.

    Produce reports summarising commissioning outcomes.

Ensure commissioning documentation, test records and handover certificates are completed accurately and to the required quality standards.

Support the project in meeting nuclear, environmental and industrial safety requirements.

Work closely with Commissioning Managers and Senior Engineers to achieve project milestones and objectives.

Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality and technical excellence throughout commissioning activities.

    About You

    You will ideally have:

HNC/HND or recognised equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a relevant engineering discipline.

Demonstrable experience in electrical commissioning, fault finding, testing, return-to-service, operational or maintenance testing.

Previous experience working within a high-hazard, industrial, nuclear, energy or other safety-critical environment.

A strong understanding of electrical systems and commissioning processes.

The ability to interpret technical information and communicate effectively with project teams, contractors and stakeholders.

A strong safety and quality mindset with a proven track record of working within controlled environments.

A delivery-focused approach and the ability to take ownership of commissioning activities.

A degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering would be desirable.

    Why Apply?

This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a major UK nuclear infrastructure project, contributing directly to the safe and successful commissioning of complex electrical systems.

If you are an experienced Electrical Commissioning Engineer looking for a challenging role where your technical expertise, commissioning experience and commitment to safety will make a real impact, we would be keen to hear from you
