How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Controls Engineer - Siemens

    * PLC programming from scratch - Siemens

    * Machines Manufacturer

    * Saltash, UK

    * Up to £50.000 + Benefits

    We are working with an established Machines Manufacturing company based in Saltash, UK.

    Due to continuing growth, they are seeking a Controls Engineer to join their team.

    As a Control Engineer, you’ll play a key role in developing the software that controls, monitors, regulates and automates the next generation of composite manufacturing technology.

    From creating software design concepts to supporting commissioning on-site, this is a role that blends creativity, problem-solving, and hands-on engineering.

    You will have Electronic and Electrical software development experience with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) experience and/or Siemens TIA Portal Software experience preferable.

    The role will be instrumental in designing automated machinery, equipment, and processes for the closed moulding composite process. The role will also provide technical assistance to other projects and clients globally.

    You’ll work closely with colleagues, suppliers, and clients worldwide, contributing to projects that range from luxury marine components to aerospace innovation. No two days are the same; one moment you’ll be turning concepts into detailed designs, the next you could be supporting a client on the factory floor or helping refine a cutting-edge process.

    They’re not just building machines; They’re pioneering processes that transformed the composites industry, including the Direct Infusion Process they developed in the early 2000s. Customers worldwide trust their solutions for precision, reliability, and innovation, but it’s the people who make it all possible.

    Key Responsibilities include:

    ● Designing electrical and control systems for composite moulding processes.

    ● Developing design concepts and producing drawings and specifications using appropriate software.

    ● Researching new solutions, technologies, and techniques to enhance our equipment and processes.

    ● Supporting the full project lifecycle, from feasibility studies and BOMs through to build, commissioning, and client handover.

    ● Providing training and technical support to client engineers and operators, both in the UK and internationally.

    ● Collaborating with colleagues on sales enquiries, quotations, and technical problem-solving.

    ● Maintaining compliance with health and safety standards and ensuring accurate documentation throughout.

    This is a role where your ideas matter, your skills grow, and your work has a tangible impact on the future of composite technology.

    Requirements:

    We’re looking for a motivated Control Systems Engineer who’s excited by solving problems, pushing boundaries, and delivering high-quality work. You’ll thrive in this role if you’re curious, practical, and able to balance creative thinking with technical precision.

    Skills & Experience:

    * An engineering degree (or equivalent experience - at least 1 year in a relevant Control systems role).

    * Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) experience and/ or Siemens TIA Portal Software experience preferable.

    * Strong technical understanding with the ability to create accurate, innovative, and practical design solutions.

    * Excellent communication skills, able to explain technical information clearly and build strong relationships with colleagues, suppliers, and clients.

    * Organised and detail-driven, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

    * Confidence with Microsoft Office and databases.

    Personal Qualities:

    * Takes ownership and pride in producing high-quality work.

    * A “completer-finisher” mindset, spotting details others might miss.

    * Curious, questioning, and not afraid to challenge ideas constructively.

    * Flexible and adaptable, equally comfortable working independently or as part of a team.

    * Willingness to travel in the UK and internationally when required (passport and driving licence essential).

    * Eager to keep learning, staying up to date with new technologies, techniques, and trends.

    Desirable Requirements:

    * Be Approachable – they’re open, collegiate, and generous with knowledge.

    * Ask Questions – curiosity fuels innovation and improvement.

    * Own It – they’re tenacious, focused on success, and always keep their promises.

    They’re also deeply committed to sustainability, setting high standards for themselves while reducing the footprint and embracing eco-friendly practices. Above all, they create an environment where people feel supported, challenged, and valued.

    Package:

    They go beyond the basics to create a workplace that rewards hard work, supports wellbeing, and helps you build a lasting career.

    * Enhanced Holidays – 30 days annual leave to start, plus an extra day for each year of service (up to 5 additional days).

    * Westfield Healthcare – cover that contributes towards dental, osteopathy, chiropody and more, plus retail discounts.

    * China Fleet Country Club Membership – free access to gym, pool, racquet sports, fitness classes and leisure facilities.
