How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

We are recruiting for a talented Electrical Design Engineer to join an established and growing engineering business specialising in industrial automation and special purpose machinery.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on technically challenging projects across a range of industries, including aerospace, automotive, medical technology and advanced manufacturing.

Working alongside experienced Mechanical, Electrical and Software Engineers, you'll play a key role in designing electrical control systems for sophisticated automated machinery, taking projects from initial concept through to manufacture, testing and commissioning.

    The Role

    *

Design and develop electrical and pneumatic control systems for bespoke automated machinery.

    *

Produce detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, system architecture drawings and technical documentation.

    *

Specify industrial control components including PLCs, HMIs, variable speed drives, servo systems and safety equipment.

    *

Develop electrical designs using EPLAN or similar CAD software.

    *

Produce bills of materials, component specifications and recommended spare parts lists.

    *

Carry out machinery safety assessments using SISTEMA, Pilz or equivalent software.

    *

Ensure designs comply with relevant machinery safety standards and regulations.

    *

Work closely with Mechanical Designers, Software Engineers and Project Managers to deliver integrated automation solutions.

    *

Provide technical support to manufacturing and assembly teams during machine build and testing.

    *

Participate in design reviews, customer meetings and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).

    *

Ensure engineering projects are delivered to agreed specifications, budgets and timescales.

    What We're Looking For

    *

Previous experience in electrical design, ideally within industrial automation, machinery manufacturing or control systems.

    *

Experience designing industrial control panels and electrical systems.

    *

Proficiency with EPLAN or similar electrical design software.

    *

Good understanding of PLCs, HMIs, drives, motors and industrial control components.

    *

Knowledge of machinery safety systems, risk assessments and safety-related control circuits.

    *

Familiarity with BS EN (phone number removed), BS EN ISO (phone number removed) and associated machinery safety standards.

    *

Understanding of pneumatic systems and their integration with electrical controls.

    *

Ability to produce accurate technical drawings, specifications and documentation.

    *

Relevant electrical engineering qualification or equivalent industry experience.

    *

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary engineering team.

Experience with Siemens, Rockwell, Omron, Mitsubishi, B&R, Pilz or similar automation products would be advantageous.

Knowledge of UL508A, NFPA 79 and international electrical standards would also be beneficial.

    What's on Offer?

    *

    Competitive salary based on experience.

    *

Opportunity to work on innovative automation and special purpose machinery projects.

    *

Exposure to a wide range of industries and advanced manufacturing technologies.

    *

Collaborative working environment with experienced engineering professionals.

    *

Opportunities for technical development and career progression.

    *

A varied engineering role involving projects from concept through to commissioning.
