How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Commercial Manager, Central London
    £80,000 to £100,000 (DOE) + package

We're working with a leading UK structures specialist, an employee-owned contractor that self-delivers its work. They're looking for a Commercial Manager to lead the commercial team in their growing London operation.

The work covers concrete repair, structural repair, hydro demolition and civils. Projects range from smaller packages of around £10k up to larger schemes, so you'll be running a high volume of jobs at the same time rather than one or two big ones. If you've come through a tier 1 contractor and now prefer the pace, variety and hands-on feel of a tier 2 business, this role will suit you.

    What you'll be doing:

Leading a commercial team of 5 QSs and junior staff
Overseeing the commercial delivery of a busy portfolio of projects, from pre-construction through to final account
Managing CVRs, forecasts, cashflow and reporting across the portfolio
Leading on subcontractor procurement, negotiations and account management
Managing variations, claims and final accounts
Providing commercial input to bids and tenders
Working closely with the operations team to keep projects efficient and profitableWhat they're looking for:

A Commercial Manager or strong Managing Quantity Surveyor with a civil engineering background
Tier 1 training is ideal, ideally with time since then at a tier 2 or specialist contractor
Comfortable running lots of smaller, fast-moving projects alongside larger ones
Strong contract knowledge and commercial risk management
Experience leading and developing a teamConcrete repair or hydro demolition experience is not essential. Strong civils experience matters more.

    What's on offer:

£80k to £100k depending on experience, plus package
Leadership of the commercial function in a growing London team
    Technically interesting, specialist work
Long-term career with an employee-owned businessFor more information, apply below and we will be in touch
