How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Materials Handler
    Permanent Position
    £44,555 Salary Inclusive of Shift Allowance
    Working Monday to Thursday 15.45pm - 01.30am
    Additional Overtime also available
    Based in Dunstable

    The materials handler role will be responsible for the replenishment of materials and parts to production areas, managing supplies, updating visual management tools and assisting with tasks that support minimising production worker downtime and optimising shop floor productivity and efficiency.

    Core Responsibilities.

    Environmental Health and safety: Performs all duties in accordance with company health and safety policies and procedures. Maintaining a clean safe and organised workplace.
    Stock replenishment: travelling a fixed sequenced route to deliver raw materials, parts and supplies to workstations to prevent production stoppages or stock outs.
    Material movement: Transporting finished products away from the work areas to the next stage.
    Waste removal: Removal of waste materials, packaging and empty containers from workstations or production areas to maintain good 5s housekeeping and efficient workspace.
    Visual Management: Updating of relevant visual management status boards to reflect current inventory and production status.
    Practical problem solving & support: Assisting with out of cycle tasks i.e. removal of or replacing of tooling and fixtures, assisting with changeovers and general troubleshooting of minor issues to prevent production stops related to materials movement.
    Inventory Management: Monitoring inventory levels at each workstation to prevent shortages or overstocking, using scanners/laptops to process transactions on ERP systems to manage inventory counts, signal material needs and maintain accurate stock levels.To be a successful Materials Handler you will possess the following:

    Health and safety: Strong understanding of health and safety regulations.
    Time management: the ability to prioritise tasks and follow a to meet time bound production requirements.
    Communication: Effective communication skills to coordinate with line workers, support networks, team leads and management.
    Attention to detail: Ensuring accurate stock identification, labelling and condition and in full is maintained for all material movement
    Physical Stamina: this role involves constant movement, lifting and handling of materials in a fast-paced production environment and will require a good work ethic and good physical stamina.
    Strong commitment to a EH&S first and Quality assurance culture
    Good organisational and problem-solving skills
