How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

MEP Technical Lead - Data Centres
    Remote/Hybrid (London)
Salary | Bonus and Profit Share Potential

Premises Recruitment is working with a growing MEP design business in London that is looking to make a key senior technical appointment.

This is an opportunity to join the business at an early stage, take ownership of technical delivery and play an important role in shaping the team as it develops.

    The Company

Our client is an MEP design business established alongside an existing, successful company.

They work predominantly with major MEP subcontractors in London and across the UK, providing Stage 3 and technical MEP design services across commercial and data centre projects.

The business has been intentionally kept lean during its initial growth phase, with the focus on developing a strong client base, delivering high quality technical work and building the team around the right people.

    The Opportunity

They are now looking to appoint an experienced MEP Technical Lead to take responsibility for the technical side of the business and oversee project delivery.

The directors bring strong commercial and industry experience, and this appointment is intended to complement those strengths with an experienced engineer capable of leading projects, making technical decisions and setting the standard for future delivery.

There is already an active pipeline, with several commercial and data centre schemes currently being tendered.

As workload grows, the intention is to recruit dedicated Mechanical and Electrical Leads beneath the Technical Lead, providing genuine scope to build and lead a wider technical team.

    The Role

    Responsibilities will include:

    * Taking technical ownership of MEP projects from Stage 3 through detailed technical design

    * Leading the technical delivery of commercial and data centre schemes

    * Supporting the directors with the technical input required for current tenders and new opportunities

    * Working closely with MEP subcontractor clients throughout London and the wider UK

    * Reviewing designs and ensuring projects are delivered accurately, efficiently and to the required technical standard

    * Identifying and managing design and technical risk

    * Helping establish the company's technical processes, standards and ways of working

    * Supporting the recruitment and development of the future Mechanical and Electrical design teams

    The Individual

We are looking for an experienced MEP design professional capable of operating with a high degree of autonomy.

    You are likely to have:

    * A strong MEP design background

    * Around 10+ years' relevant industry experience

    * Experience gained within an established MEP or building services consultancy

    * A proven track record of leading projects and taking responsibility for technical design decisions

    * Strong knowledge of Stage 3 and detailed technical MEP design

    * A practical, hands on approach to engineering and project delivery

    * The confidence to work closely with directors and clients within a small, growing business

Experience of data centres, commercial projects and working alongside major MEP subcontractors would be particularly advantageous.

    Salary & Package

Salary will be agreed depending on experience.

In addition to salary, the successful candidate will have access to a bonus structure and profit share, reflecting the importance of the appointment and the opportunity to contribute directly to the growth of the business.

    Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is an great opportunity for an experienced MEP professional who wants more influence than they may have within a traditional large consultancy.

You will have genuine ownership of the technical function, direct involvement with the directors and the opportunity to build a team around you as the business grows.

There is already a live pipeline of commercial and data centre work, with clear ambitions to develop the business further.
