How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Company:

An established global manufacturing organisation is looking to recruit a Process Improvement Engineer for its operation in Hebburn.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a structured engineering environment where continuous improvement and investment in manufacturing processes are key priorities.

The successful Process Improvement Engineer will have the opportunity to take ownership of CAPEX improvement projects, support the introduction of new machinery and equipment, and deliver improvements that have a direct impact on manufacturing performance.

    Job Description:

As Process Improvement Engineer, you will identify, manage and implement engineering improvement projects across manufacturing, with a particular focus on CAPEX investment, new equipment installation and process optimisation.

A key part of the role will involve managing projects from initial concept and business case through to equipment specification, supplier engagement, installation, commissioning and successful implementation into production.

The Process Improvement Engineer will take ownership of CAPEX projects, managing budgets, timelines, resources and stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered successfully.

You'll work closely with production, maintenance, procurement, facilities and external equipment suppliers to introduce new machinery, improve existing manufacturing processes and ensure minimal disruption to production.

Alongside project delivery, you'll identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste and enhance manufacturing performance through Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.

The Process Improvement Engineer will also utilise techniques including DMAIC, 5 Whys, FMEA and root-cause analysis to deliver sustainable improvements.

You'll also mentor a Process Improvement Assistant and support continuous improvement initiatives across the organisation.

    Skills & Experience:

The successful Process Improvement Engineer should have:

    * HNC/HND in Engineering, Manufacturing or a related discipline.

    * 3–5+ years' experience within Process Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Continuous Improvement.

    * Proven experience managing CAPEX projects within a manufacturing environment.

    * Hands-on experience coordinating the installation, commissioning and implementation of new machinery or manufacturing equipment.

    * Experience managing engineering projects from initial concept through to completion, including budgets, suppliers and project timelines.

    * Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment improvements and production efficiency.

    * Six Sigma Green Belt qualification – Black Belt advantageous.

    * Good knowledge of Lean manufacturing techniques including 5S, Kanban and SMED.

    * Practical experience using DMAIC and root-cause-analysis techniques.

    * Minitab, Power BI or similar data-analysis capability.

    * Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.

    * SAP/ERP/MES experience advantageous.

    Why Should You Apply?

This Process Improvement Engineer opportunity offers genuine ownership of engineering projects within an established global manufacturing business.

Rather than focusing purely on traditional continuous improvement activities, you'll have the opportunity to manage CAPEX investment, introduce new machinery and equipment, and see your projects through from concept to successful implementation.

For an engineer who enjoys delivering practical manufacturing improvements, managing projects and having a direct impact on operational performance, this offers an excellent next step
