How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Mobile Electrical Maintenance Engineer

    We are currently recruiting for a Mobile Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join a leading facilities management provider supporting a prestigious government contract.

    Based primarily at Reading Crown Court, you will be responsible for delivering planned and reactive maintenance across a portfolio of secure buildings. This is an excellent opportunity for an electrically qualified engineer looking for a long-term position with a stable contract and varied workload.

    While this is an electrical role, applicants should have some understanding of HVAC and mechanical systems, as building services plant forms a key part of the estate. You will be expected to diagnose faults, understand plant operation and work alongside other disciplines when required.

    Key Responsibilities

    Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
    Reactive electrical maintenance and fault finding
    Electrical testing, inspection and remedial works
    Repairs to lighting, power, distribution boards and electrical systems
    Diagnosing HVAC and mechanical plant faults
    Monitoring and maintaining building services systems
    Completing compliance checks and maintenance documentation
    Ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with regulations
    Participating in the on-call rota following probation

    Requirements

    Level 3 Electrical Installation qualification (2365 or equivalent)
    City & Guilds Part 1 & Part 2 qualifications also considered
    18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671) - Essential
    Experience within a facilities management or building services environment
    Strong electrical fault-finding skills
    Good understanding of HVAC and mechanical plant
    Full UK Driving Licence
    Must live within a commutable distance of Reading
    Must be able to attend emergency call-outs within one hour

    Location

    Your primary site will be Reading Crown Court. Occasional travel may be required to other nearby sites including Slough, Staines and Oxford to provide operational cover when needed.

    On-Call Package

    1 in 5 / 1 in 6 rota
    £125 standby payment per week
    Time and a half for call-outs
    Minimum 4-hour payment per call-out, even if the job takes less time
