How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Carmichael UK are seeking an experienced Site Engineer to join a major section of the HS2 programme in Northamptonshire. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of one of the UK's largest and most complex infrastructure projects, working alongside a Tier 1 contractor delivering significant earthworks, structures, highways and civil engineering works.

    As Site Engineer, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of construction activities, ensuring works are completed safely, accurately, and in line with project specifications and quality standards.

    Responsibilities

    Setting out and surveying works in accordance with design drawings and specifications

    Managing and recording QA documentation, ITPs and inspection records

    Producing and reviewing as-built surveys and drawings

    Ensuring site activities comply with project quality, environmental and safety procedures

    Managing subcontractors and monitoring progress against programme

    Identifying and resolving engineering and technical issues on site

    Supporting Section Engineers and Site Management teams with daily delivery requirements

    Liaising with design teams and stakeholders to ensure efficient project delivery

    Maintaining accurate site records and reports

    Requirements

    Previous experience as a Site Engineer on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects

    Strong setting out experience using GPS and robotic total stations

    Experience delivering earthworks, structures, highways, drainage or reinforced concrete works

    Good understanding of QA procedures, ITPs and technical documentation

    Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

    CSCS Card

    Full UK Driving Licence

    Relevant engineering qualification (HNC, HND or Degree)

    Desirable

    Experience working on HS2 or other major infrastructure schemes

    Temporary Works awareness

    EUSR, SSSTS or SMSTS certification

    Knowledge of digital engineering and survey software
