How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Domestic Gas Engineer - Installation with potential to get into HVAC industry.

Salary: Up to £40,000 dependent on experience
Location: Yorkshire - LS, WF, HG & YO postcodes
    Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Working Hours: 8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday to Friday

Are you a qualified Domestic Gas Engineer with strong installation experience and looking for an opportunity to develop your skills into commercial gas and HVAC?
This is a permanent opportunity for a Gas Safe registered engineer to join an established heating and building services business covering Leeds, Wakefield, Harrogate, York and surrounding areas

The role is approximately 80% installation work, with the remaining 20% focused on servicing, maintenance, fault finding and repairs.

You'll primarily be installing domestic heating and gas systems, with the opportunity to receive further training and develop into commercial gas and HVAC as the business continues to grow.

You don't need to be an experienced commercial or HVAC engineer already. The priority is finding someone with solid domestic gas installation experience who is reliable, presentable, technically capable and keen to develop their career.

    The Role
As a Domestic Gas Engineer, the majority of your time will be spent carrying out installation work across Yorkshire, working on domestic heating and gas systems.

Approximately 80% of the role will involve installations, including new heating systems, boilers and associated gas and heating equipment.
The remaining 20% will involve servicing, maintenance, fault finding and repairs, giving you a varied role without the position becoming predominantly reactive service work.

As your experience develops, you'll also have the opportunity to become involved with commercial gas and HVAC projects, with training available for the right engineer.

You'll work across Leeds, Wakefield, Harrogate, York and surrounding areas, so you'll need to be comfortable travelling between customer properties and sites.

    Key Responsibilities

Install domestic boilers, heating systems and associated gas equipment
Carry out new and replacement heating installations
Install and commission domestic gas appliances and heating systems
Complete installation work safely and to a high standard
Carry out gas servicing and planned maintenance
Diagnose and rectify gas and heating faults
    Complete repair work when required
Carry out testing and commissioning following installation
Maintain accurate job records and service documentation
Work safely and in accordance with current Gas Safe regulations
Provide a professional service to customers
Travel across the LS, WF, HG and YO postcode areas
Develop knowledge of commercial heating and HVAC systems through training
Support the wider business as your skills and experience develop
    What You'll Need
You'll need to be an experienced Domestic Gas Engineer with strong installation experience, current Gas Safe registration and the relevant domestic qualifications.

    Essential qualifications:

    CCN1
    CENWAT
    CKR1
    HTR1
    G3 Unvented
    Gas Safe registration
    Full UK driving licence
Previous experience carrying out domestic boiler and heating installations is essential.

Experience with servicing, maintenance and fault finding is also required, although the role is predominantly installation focused.
Commercial gas or HVAC experience would be useful, but it is not essential.

The business is looking for someone who takes pride in their installation work, is reliable and presentable, and wants to develop beyond domestic gas.

If you're a domestic gas engineer who wants to build towards commercial gas, air conditioning and wider HVAC work, training and development will be available.

    What's On Offer

    £35,000+ salary depending on experience
Approximately 80% installation / 20% service and repairs
    Ford Transit Custom company van
    Fuel card
Reasonable private use of the company vehicle
    Spare company van available
    Company tools and equipment provided
    Saturday overtime paid at 1.5x
20 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays
    8:00am - 5:00pm working hours
Flexibility around working hours when required
Parking costs covered where required for work
    Training and development opportunities
Opportunity to progress into commercial gas and HVAC
    Permanent position
Work across LS, WF, HG and YO
    About the Business
The business provides heating, gas and building services across Yorkshire, working across domestic and commercial environments.
With the business continuing to develop its commercial heating and HVAC offering, there is an opportunity for a domestic gas engineer to build on their existing trade and develop additional skills.
This role would particularly suit a Domestic Gas Engineer who enjoys installation work and wants a stable Monday-to-Friday position with the opportunity to progress into commercial HVAC over time.

    Apply
If you're a qualified Domestic Gas Engineer with strong installation experience and you're interested in developing your career into commercial gas and HVAC, we'd like to hear from you.

Apply with your CV and a member of the recruitment team will contact you to discuss the role, training opportunities and progression available.
