How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Business Development Executive
    Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
    Sector: Freight Forwarding & Logistics

    The Opportunity
Wolviston Management Services are delighted to be supporting our client in the recruitment of an ambitious and commercially driven Business Development Executive to join their growing team in Newcastle upon Tyne.
Our client operates within the international freight forwarding and logistics sector, providing tailored transport and supply chain solutions to customers across global markets.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated sales professional with a passion for developing new business, building long-term customer relationships and driving commercial growth.
Working within an established team, you will play a key role in expanding the company's international customer base, identifying new business opportunities and strengthening relationships with existing clients.
We are particularly interested in speaking with individuals who have experience within freight forwarding, transport, logistics or supply chain services, although candidates with strong business development experience in a related industry will also be considered.

    The Role
As Business Development Executive, you will take responsibility for identifying, developing and securing new business opportunities while supporting the continued growth of existing customer accounts.
Working closely with the wider commercial, operations and customer service teams, you will ensure customers receive high-quality, commercially competitive logistics solutions.

    Key responsibilities will include:

Identifying and developing new business opportunities across domestic and international markets.
Proactively generating and qualifying sales leads through market research, networking and targeted prospecting.
Building relationships with prospective customers through telephone calls, emails and face-to-face meetings.
Promoting a comprehensive range of freight forwarding, transport and logistics solutions.
Preparing competitive quotations, commercial proposals and customer presentations.
Supporting commercial negotiations and securing new customer contracts.
Managing and developing existing customer accounts to maximise retention and revenue opportunities.
Understanding customer requirements and working closely with operational teams to deliver effective logistics solutions.
Maintaining accurate CRM records, sales pipelines and customer activity reports.
Monitoring market trends, competitor activity and emerging commercial opportunities.
Working towards agreed sales targets, revenue objectives and business development KPIs.
Representing the business professionally while developing long-term customer partnerships. About You
We are looking for a confident, proactive and results-driven individual who enjoys building relationships and identifying commercial opportunities.
    The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

Proven experience in business development, sales or account management.
A successful track record of generating leads, developing opportunities and securing new business.
Experience within freight forwarding, logistics, transport or supply chain services would be highly advantageous.
Strong commercial awareness and an understanding of sales pipeline management.
Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
Confidence engaging with customers and decision-makers at all levels.
The ability to prepare professional quotations, proposals and presentations.
Experience using CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications.
    A self-motivated, organised and target-driven approach.
The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a wider team. A qualification in Business, Marketing, Logistics or a related discipline would be beneficial, although relevant industry experience is equally valued.

    Why Apply?
This is a fantastic opportunity to join an established business operating within the international logistics and freight forwarding sector.
You will have the opportunity to develop your commercial career, build relationships across a diverse customer base and make a genuine contribution to the company's continued growth.
The position offers a varied and commercially focused role, combining new business development with account management and long-term relationship building
