An established and growing organisation is looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to lead its UK payroll team and take ownership of a high-volume, end-to-end payroll operation.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll combine team management, payroll expertise and continuous improvement, working closely with HR, Finance and senior stakeholders to ensure employees are paid accurately, compliantly and on time.
The role
You’ll lead and develop the UK payroll administration team while overseeing the full monthly payroll process.
Key responsibilities include:
* Manage, coach and develop the UK payroll team
* Oversee end-to-end, high-volume UK payroll processing
* Ensure compliance with HMRC legislation, PAYE, RTI, pensions and GDPR
* Resolve complex payroll queries and provide expert support to stakeholders
* Monitor payroll processes, SLAs and reporting
* Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and systems
* Work closely with HR, Finance and internal/external stakeholders
* Lead and support payroll projects, including system upgrades, policy changes and M&A integration
* Support audits and maintain strong payroll controls
About you
You’ll be an experienced UK payroll professional with proven team leadership or management experience and a strong understanding of end-to-end payroll.
You’ll ideally have:
* Solid UK end-to-end payroll experience
* Experience managing or leading a payroll team
* High-volume payroll experience
* Strong knowledge of HMRC legislation, RTI and pensions
* Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
* A pragmatic approach to resolving complex payroll queries
* Experience with payroll projects, process improvement or systems changes would be advantageous
* The ability to build strong relationships across HR, Finance and the wider business
