An Excellent Opportunity for Psychology Graduates
A specialist school in Hertfordshire is seeking a motivated Psychology Graduate to join its dedicated support team as an SEN Teaching Assistant.
The position would suit a graduate looking to develop practical experience before progressing into Clinical or Educational Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Mental Health, Teaching or Social Care.
You will work within a specialist educational environment supporting children and young people aged 6-19 with a range of needs, including Autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, communication needs and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Key Responsibilities
Support students with their learning and development.
Deliver targeted 1:1 and small-group interventions.
Encourage communication, confidence and independence.
Support students' emotional wellbeing and engagement.
Assist with classroom and wider school activities.
Maintain a positive, inclusive and supportive environment.
Provide personal care where necessary.
Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and other professionals.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will ideally have:
A degree in Psychology or a closely related discipline.
A genuine interest in supporting children and young people with additional needs.
An interest in pursuing a career within psychology, therapy, education, mental health or social care.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Patience, resilience and a positive attitude.
A willingness to undertake training and develop professionally.
Essential: GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).
Previous SEN experience is beneficial but not essential for the right graduate.
