A leading multidisciplinary built environment consultancy is looking to appoint a Fire Engineer to join their established fire engineering team in London. This is an excellent opportunity for a Fire Engineer who wants to work on complex, high-profile projects while benefiting from the support of a wider technical consultancy.
The successful Fire Engineer will provide specialist fire engineering advice across a broad range of sectors, working closely with architects, developers, contractors and other technical disciplines throughout the project lifecycle.
The Fire Engineer's Role
The Fire Engineer will be responsible for:
Developing fire strategies for new-build and refurbishment projects
Providing technical advice on fire safety design and Building Regulations
Reviewing architectural, structural and MEP information
Supporting projects through design, construction and handover stages
Advising on means of escape, compartmentation, smoke control and fire resistance
Attending design team meetings and liaising directly with clients
Supporting Building Safety Act and Gateway-related requirements where applicable
Undertaking site inspections and technical reviews
Working across sectors including commercial, residential, healthcare, education and mixed-use developments
The Fire Engineer
The successful Fire Engineer will ideally have:
A degree in Fire Engineering, Fire Safety Engineering or a related discipline
Experience working within a consultancy environment
Strong knowledge of Approved Document B, BS 9991 and BS 9999
Understanding of UK Building Regulations and current fire safety legislation
Experience producing fire strategies and technical reports
Membership of the IFE or another relevant professional body
Progress towards Chartered Engineer status would be advantageous
Strong client-facing and communication skills
